Your memory is fuzzy. Secondary was weak in 08. Was our strength in 09. Lewis, Green, and Vaughn all played in the NFL.

Yea that team had a great D-line right? Powe, Hardy, etc.

That Louisiana-Lafayette offense had them gassed, brah.

They played 1 1/2 quarters against scrubs and still only had 322 yards of offense.

I think we're going to have major problems running the ball against Bama. Probably lead to a loss. I could see a repeat of last year unfortunately. Here's hoping I'm wrong.

Each team had more penalty yards than Memphis had offense.

Another reason those refs should be fired. There were 19 penalties and over 200 penalty yards last night

I seriously doubt they shut us out. Had Freeze not gone full retard and kicked field goals like he was supposed to, it would have been a one score game going into the fourth quarter.

D-line was pretty good but got a bit exposed against State. They were much better in '08 with Peria Jerry in the middle.

Yeah. The 08 team also had Peria Jerry. The 09 team lost Jerry to the NFL and Greg Hardy to injury.

In all honesty, who knows what to expect? We have the ability and talent to come out and - with some turnovers - control this game. I seriously believe that. But - considering the big stage, the history and the pressure on this team, I would be a little shocked if that happened.
The keys to the game for OM - in order of importance:

1) Good Bo Wallace
2) Offensive line protection
3) some semblance of a running game
4) pressure on Sims
5) turnovers

Oh - and loading the box and being able to stop the run. Making Sims beat us. That's a huge challenge.

I'm concerned about our interior line. So far it has been mediocre at best. After Cam Robinson's performance against Dante Fowler I feel pretty good about him, but our interior guys struggle to push.

I will be curious to see what our plan is early offensively.

Yeah I feel ya. At times, in the same game no doubt, I've felt like we could be a playoff team or last in the west. But this year I think there's more inconsistency than ever in our entire league, not just the east.

I think y'all have the talent to compete in every game this year, but it'll always come back to Bo not screwing things up.

Can I just say that this is a pleasure to have a non-combative thread about actual football here? Wow...

Anyway...

I agree - I have been a little surprised that Bama's Dline hasn't been more dominant. Definitely not the dline of years past. Although, I think with the talent that's there, it's just a matter of time. Reed and Pettway are both great players. My bigger concern is Derrick Henry falling forward for 4 yards a carry. Oh - and I don't really think anyone can stop Cooper.

Probably a 9 win season after a bowl victory. Not bad at all, but not contenders.

Realistically, 9-3 would be a great year for us, with most fans satisfied or only slightly disappointed with 8-4.

I think we ran into 3 teams that got the ball out so quickly that they were pretty much just negated for the first 3 games due to the way the other offenses played.

They were dominant against Florida. Collapsed the pocket every time Driskel dropped, kept Driskel in the pocket and swallowed up Florida's backs and their option game.

Honestly, my biggest concerns are linebackers and non-Collins safety. I think now that Jackson and Brown are at corner we will make some mistakes but also make plays (compared with previously).

I don't think DePriest is anything other than a solid thumper who knows the system and our other LBs are unkowns who have played well at times but have to step up.

First team defense hasn't given up a single TD this year.

True. But yal literally have played absolute shite of teams. Wallace is over rated. Defense looks very solid but dont remember who you have played. We will see saturday what these Mississippi teams are made of
