In all seriousness Smith's Olde Bar is fun. Jeff Daniels used to play random acoustic guitar there from time to time - not sure if he still does anymore. They have a small concert room upstairs. Restaurant/bar downstairs. I had my 21st bday celebration there and left a nice present from my stomach directly in front of the entrance to Cowtippers next door. 0 hesitation, hands on knees, projectile. Ohhh good times.

I'm more talking for tonight and not tomorrow. Not sure of the plan tomorrow yet since tailgating there blows... But I imagine that'll be easier.

Where is your hotel?

For tomorrow, it'll be fine, but yeah it's not traditional tailgating. I live in Atlanta so I'm less prone to get amped for SECCGs and CFA kick offs and the like, but I nonetheless always enjoy getting drunk in and around Centennial/GWCC before the game. West midtown down to the Dome is an exploding area, so there are increasingly more options within about 3 miles north of the dome.

Pettifogger, you took me back in time as it's been 25 years from my time in Atlanta.
Is Virgina Highlands a spot to go anymore. It was a great atmosphere during the Braves turnaround run, but the whole city was having fun when that happened.

I even remember getting tired of going to all the titty bars every time a buddy came to visit. I never got tired of looking at pretty girls totally naked, but you can blow a lot of money before you know it.
I hated it when a buddy would say, hey she said she gets off at 3am, I think I can get her to come home with me......
Only to see her hop on the back of a Harley to ride home with her ol'man....or college professor because she only worked there to pay her way thru college.

Virginia Highland is still a great area. I'm a little old (early 30s) for some of the bars there these days, but we still eat and drink over there some. We take a lot of visitors there for brunch or day drinking.

It gets overshadowed by some of the younger, more hipster crowd which prefers EAV, Grant Park, Kirkwood, cabbage town, r town, etc. I go to Inman but the rest of that shite is too millennial and lefty for me.

I assume Virginia Highland is still popular with recent SEC grads and the like, but most I know living there are professional folks with young families.

Staying in a house like 5 miles southwest of the stadium. Says it's only 10 minutes to ombrys and cypress street. Going to try and convince the gang to do one of those.

I used to hang out at one of the owner's houses when I was college. Wild times.

Cypress Street is in the middle of midtown so while there are a bunch of restaurants within reasonable distance, they are more restaurant than bar, if that makes sense. It's a really well liked place, just know that if you don't like it, you may have to uber out to other options.

Within a mile or so of Ormsbys there are plenty of restaurants with good bar scenes. It probably has more if you want to hop around to a couple places. Other nearby places that are good include Little Trouble (most interesting), Barcelona (probably nicest), Northside Tavern (blues/dive), Six Feet Under (seafood place with good deck up top - assuming they'll have heaters).

The bar at Marcel is a solid option too. It's upscale and the most expensive steak place in Atlanta by day, but it's got a late night following too (still upscale though).
