TM7, like the rest of their defense, were in total shock that Chest Tattoo QB was able to throw perfect passes. They were expecting typical lob passes or check downs to Super Trent. Since he pulled that game out of his arse - I would consider that a fluke. I mean Alex Smith lit up the Saints Sunday too - I guess Roman Harper sux as well.

Sounds like as good a reason as any to go roll Toomer's.

I don't think he sucks...I just don't think he's one of the "SEC's 5 scariest players". There is a huge difference in those two statements.

whatever

All-SEC, All-American honors and being a Heisman finalist don't mean anything after watching AJ complete 4 passes over his head.

Dude is HORRIBLE

Man, what is it with y'all and totally overblowing and wildly distorting what someone is saying? Is it some kind of defense mechanism?

If so, teach a clinic on it to Petrino, he needs all the help he can get.

he's a good player, you don't need us to tell you that. but he wasn't impressive in the NC game & it was more than the 4 passes he gave up. he missed tackles, he was a non-factor in the return game & basically looked scared as shite the whole time.
I think he will have a great season next year & will more than likely earn those accolades again, but scariest player in the SEC?? I dunno about that.

Yep, there was, and not of the tongue in cheek variety either. Maybe you didn't see it (like the guy who said he hasn't heard a peep on this site about any fights in the locker room), but that doesn't mean the threads weren't there, with some people honestly advocating it.
I just tried to look at old pages of the Rant to find the threads, but it only goes back 100 pages now (which is about a week, apparently).

Well, I have to question the homerism of LSU fans too...considering there was Heisman talk for Jefferson on the Tiger Rant a month or so ago.

Oh, PLEASE link me to this bad boy.

I just have serious doubts this is even true...

It's amazing how one game overshadows everything he's accomplished in 2 seasons. An All-American to a "good" player after 4 quarters of football.

I think yall punted to him once

No doubt

Were there 2 or 3 rantards seriously advocating he be in the Heisman conversation? Dare I say.....4?

not reading all 5 pages of the thread. but the list sucks because Wade Christopher isn't on it.

insert any synonym you'd like, but good is good enough.

Good list. I do think Mathieu is an average cover corner, but he is scary b/c of all the other things he does. He makes plays and he is a helluva returner. He can change a game.

I'm not saying we would lose the games, but he had game changing plays against 4 top 25 teams (UGA, ARK, WV and Oregon) and 3 of those were on the road. Without Mathieu, I'd say we would have lost 2 or 3 games this year (Bama, UGA, Oregon or Ark). But we wouldn't have been in the MNC game so the bowl game may have been a win...

ETA: also if we lost to Bama we wouldn't be playing UGA either so maybe we only lose 1 or 2. But no way we beat Bama without him.
