Most teams make more money off the neutral site games as well.

One of the reasons Mizzou played the home-home with UCF was for recruiting purposes, and it paid off so far as we had 6 players from Florida over the past two seasons, zero prior to that. Maybe Purdue will be good when we play our home-home with them in 2016-17

At least when LSU and Bama scheduled WVU they were coming off good runs. Mizzou is just scheduling chumps that they know will still be chumps when the game rolls around.

Mizzou will have an open slot becoming available after we conclude Indiana home-home. Look for them to schedule either a neutral site game with Illinois, or maybe another home-home with Nebraska I hope at Arrowhead

They're about equal honestly. Nebraska hasn't won shite in quite a while.

Like I said, at least LSU and Bama scheduled them when they were coming off of good runs. Scheduling Nebraska right now is a joke.

You can't make schools play you. Over the last few years Alabama, LSU and several other teams in the SEC have had to fill open slots and beg teams to play.

I can play along if you'd like and make a scheduling thread?

I know; not meant as a defense, just more of a frustration. Two of those teams were Top 25, 10+ win teams in recent memory. It's pretty dang frustrating that they're so completely horrible now.

True, but UCF would wipe the field with WVU today. I'm not sure the hillbillies could keep it with 21.

holy frick

You do realize Bama scheduled WV when they were doing very well and Southern Miss was a decent team until Ellis Johnson went in and screwed them up. Also does it really matter if we play Western Carolina or Eastern Kentucky just because Eastern Kentucky had a better record last season? Both are easy wins and all schools play these type teams.

Once again the Rant will bash Bama for playing a weak WV team when they have no control on what that team has done since the game was scheduled.

I thought this game was scheduled after they realized they were broke? Maybe that was the home game they sold back. Either way.

To be even more fair, we don't how good or bad any of these teams will be THIS year - you know the only year that matter for purposes of SOS discussion.

UF should be #1 or #2 most difficult, not 5th easiest

WVU had the most BCS wins without a loss. This crap didn't happen 50 years ago.

I do think it is interesting and worth ranking teams for their OOC strength of schedule. But I don't think doing something like just adding up the cumulative value of the W/L record for all four teams makes sense.

I'm more interested in how many teams of at least similar quality you are playing out of conference. For Vanderbilt playing a Northwestern or NC State is a good fit. Kentucky should be playing Indiana level teams. UGA, LSU, Alabama kind of programs don't really have a decent schedule unless they have at least one solid "BCS" opponent. Perhaps Wisconsin will be that opponent for LSU (as Oregon and WVU were in 2011) - certainly last year TCU did not live up to that kind of billing.

At some level I think most of us have become numb and accepting of bad schedules. So much so that we generally don't even blink when you notice directional schools or a 1aa type program in there as the third or fourth filler.
