Ok Alabama has 10 to LSU's 3.

Are you happy now? Alabama only has slightly more than 3 times as many as LSU, not 5 times.

Congrats to LSU.

I just wish we would just let 41 go. The rest are fine.

My general feelings. 41 needs to be gone now. That's ridiculous. The 1920's title I don't really care if we claim or not.

Non-Alabama SEC teams have won a combined 11 BCS, AP or UPI/Coaches Poll titles.

Alabama has 10.

How many claimed despite losing their bowl game anyhow?

Then why "claim" more?
Because football existed before the late 1930s.

The very concept of a "national champion" didn't even exist until the mid to late 20's.

Besides, pre 1908 the rules weren't even standardized, different regions of the country played with different rules, different scoring systems, etc.

That's why many organizations, including ESPN, only recognize titles from the major poll era which began in 1936.

100% of the 10 were voted on by the authoritative selectors at the time.

AP UPI/Coaches BCS

Deal with it.

LSU could claim 5 more for a total of 8, they only list the ones that they actually won

We should claim 09 as an SEC title then, it's the Bama way.

You sure did show those pesky Bammers. Haha. They're so pathetic. Their team only has 10 national championships. Still more than every other team in college football history, but let's still laugh at 'em.

The same number as every other team that had their title awarded before the bowl season (as was the case for all teams during that era).

Did the AP, BCS/Coaches vote you SEC Champions in 09?

Lol, that was one dumb arse post.

At least she was recognizable. I honestly don't have a clue who Mississippi State's fan was.

"Actually, Princeton has more. They have like 28"

So Princeton and other schools get to claim pre AP titles from the late 1800s and early 1900s but Alabama can only AP era titles? How convenient.

Those titles are awarded, not claimed. Winning the bowl was irrelevant to the choosing of a NC in those years.

I assume you know this, and are just being dense on purpose.

I wish we would, I mean why not... 1908 looking back was such a dominate season.

No. Princeton doesn't "claim" any where they finished third in their own conference. bama "claims" NC's in years where up to eight other schools could "claim" NC's also.

The point is, bama has plenty of legit NC's. Why sully them just to "claim" sketchy ones?

it was a pissing contest
