I'm sorry if you disagree, but when the media goes out and uses the number the school claims more often than not and most of the nation says the same, it's all that matters. Don't get me wrong, 41 is a BS claim, but I don't really care because Bear got screwed out of 1966.

Does Harvard play anyone outside of the Ivy League anymore?

Except the media doesn't do that. ESPN only uses AP/Coaches.

And when they're verbally speaking they call Bama 15 time champions.

The bitching and whining about how some schools claim titles is routinely my favorite thing to read from opposing fans.

Well remember that there were only retroactive selectors during that era.

Actually, Princeton has more. They won something like 28.

Per the records book, Notre Dame received at least 1 selection in 22 different years; 19 for Alabama.

Edit: In fact, Notre Dame should claim 2 additional years that they don't (most selections in 1953 and the NFF in 64).

If you really want to get real about it, none of their titles or anyone else's is actually an official national championship. Sorry. Nor will the winner of the "College Football P(l)ayoff" be an official national champion.

If you really want impressive....UCLA has won 111 NC's. They have won NC's in football, they just don't "claim" any of them in reaching the 111 total.

Yeah, but how many of those titles are in sports that are only played by 5 schools in the entire country?

I mean, it's like going all "SEC! SEC! SEC!" over an equestrian national title when only 18 schools in the country even field a team and 4 of them are from the SEC.

I'm more than fine with 10. It's a legit number, it's recent-ish and it's also more than anyone else; plus, it's a nice, round number.

Non-Alabama SEC teams have won a combined 11 BCS, AP or UPI/Coaches Poll titles.

Alabama has 10.
