Most West teams simply don’t play UK enough in football to develop any kind of rivalry, resentment, or even familiarity.

A Fall visit to Lexington is a fantastic and rare road trip for the fans of West teams. They are simply returning the favor when hosting UK.

Kentucky is the friendly bluegrass basketball school during the Fall. The vitriol returns when football ends and basketball season ramps up.

Its because most of us live in the Eastern Time Zone.

Ole Miss fans were incredible last weekend, Alabama, LSU and Auburn were all very hospitable

Always have enjoyed welcoming visiting fans in for a drink or three.

Mentioned it a million times, but as much shite as we give each other on here, the big-game tailgates with the teams you mentioned are without a doubt among the best I've ever been a part of over the years.

We may not win every party, but we give it a good go.

I agree. I have been in NOLA this week and interacted with a few dozen TN fans….everyone of them were assholes.

The answer is simple. Kentucky rarely wins against SEC West teams on the road. Hence, their fans are always glad to see Kentucky come to town.

In my experience. East fans are absolute dicks.

Some of them bark at you.

Some of them clap their hands at you fully extended, over and over. Do they have paralysis?

Others ... will sing old blue grass songs at you on repeat. Like WTF?

Hands down. East fans are the worse.

And my - admittedly limited - understanding is that they despise Florida fans more than us. Doesn’t seem possible.

Well you look at it from the Egg Bowl perspective.
State fans are probably the nicest in the conference from the 12 other teams opinions.

I was in Baton Rouge in 2014 I think it was. Was around 20 or so and was screaming the entire game and probably making this LSU fans head nearly explode for 3 hours.

Ole Miss was embarrassed that game in a defensive struggle but when the game ended that guy looked at me and just smiled. Then he said “it happens to all of us” or something like that.

I felt dejected as shite that night

Those West schools besides Mississippi State get to see us once every 13 yrs, hence the hospitality. Get no such love in Knoxville or Gainesville or Columbia. Agree with OP folks in Athens are always classy when we are there.

My favorite away game is always a night game at LSU. I like to give them hell on here, but show up early and walk to the stadium through the parade grounds, and you'll be tanked arse drunk by the time you make it to the stadium. Good natured ribbing, but they are inviting to tailgating with them with good food and drinks. Alabama is a fun away game to hit up as well. They are a bit cocky, but they seem to be very welcoming to visiting fans. Maybe they feel sorry for you with the expected loss after the game, but good group of people and a nice stadium.

For most of this century, UK has mattered a whole lot more than Rocky Slop.
