Ole miss does not have several national titles in football. Maybe 1 of those 3 titles they claim is actually recognized by the ncaa. If lsu wanted to claim national titles we could have like 7. We don't need to though because we have a trophy that the ncaa gives to the national champion which makes it legit. Ole miss is a joke.

Ole Miss has a trophy for 1960 too.
And you can't knock it since you proudly display the same trophy.

Yes exactly. You have 1 national title in football according to their site. However, you frickers hang banners for shite that you didn't win. 2 nattys that don't exist and a western division title that you didn't even represent in atlanta. Pretty damn sad.

The difference is we don't claim it. We don't hang banners for it either. It's not recognized as a true national title at lsu like it is at ole miss. I'm pretty sure lsu doesn't have a national title trophy for 1960.

I know that lsu doesn't claim 1960 as a national title. That's all that needs to be said.

Well no shite, they didn't get a single selection in the records book that year.
If the FWAA is good enough to be considered a major poll by the governing body of the sport and for a blue blood like Ohio State to claim (1961) then it's good enough for everyone else. You just have a problem with it because it's Ole Miss.

No I think it's a joke for anyone to claim not just ole miss. Alabama does the same thing and we bash them for it all the time.

Again, you have no idea what you're talking about with the FWAA.

Look. I know they had a ton of polls back then and I don't give a damn. I know that there are titles recognized by the ncaa and some not from back then. I think silly to claim a title that the ncaa doesn't recognize period. That's all I'm saying.

Go back and read my comments. I said they have 1. Not 3 like they claim. Also alabama has 11, not 16 like they claim. That was my whole point. If lsu wanted to do that we would have 7 but we dont. Jesus christ dude are you really this stupid?

While titles won on the field/court are obviously more meaningful, I wonder how the conversation changes if we actually call them all what they are: "Recognition of Best Team in Country." That's essentially what "National Title" means, after all. Obviously they're stretching by voting teams as national champions ex post facto because there's no way to prove they were the best, but, then, sometimes teams who do win on the court/field aren't the best either.

Yeah, well i guess the ncaa doesn't know what they're talking about either. Read their website and bitch to them about it if you don't like it. The billy bob's barbecue and pawn shop poll doesn't count and isn't recognized by the ncaa.
