Most NFL rivalries are 2 games a year type deals. Not once a year rivalries. And the passion among players and fans are different in college vs NFL. NFL are city specific. In many instances, colleges are State specific and much more meaningful.

Ofcourse the passion is different, I agree and that's why I love it. I would rather watch a Tuesday night MAC game than an NFL game.

I'm just pointing out the similarities in your stance and their's.

UF & LSU - Played two elite teams from the opposing division.

SC & A&M - Played one elite team from the opposing division.

UGA & Bama - Played no elite teams from th opposing division. They will be the participants in the SECCG. Their 4 opponents from the opposing division have a combined 4 SEC wins (4-24).

Bama and UGA definitely had easy roads to the SEC CCG but they also beat LSU and UF and it was those two results that put them into the championship game

FWIW if the SEC were to expand to 16 teams with two 8 team divisions I think the SEC should consider counting only the seven games within the division (to determine who goes to the CCG)

Can you rantards make up your mind?
You love to bitch at other schools schedules and pride yourself how "tough" LSU s is, yet when there is a perceived inequity making the LSU schedule look tougher, you bitch about it.

Quit acting like a 2 year old and man up and play your opponents.

geez.

It would hurt the programs involved in those to a degree though. College football has a uniqueness to it that the NFL and other games can't duplicate and rivalries are a big part of it.

I think it should be pointed out that UA would be hurt and UT would benefit from the split. UGA would suffer and AU would benefit.
I really don't care if they stay or go. Right now, those 2 rivalry games don't mean anything. They have minimal bearing on the E/W SEC standings for the 4 teams involved, right now. In a few years when the dumpster fire at UT is extinguished and AU pulls their heads from their asses the cross div. rivalries will mean more to the 4 schools.
I notice LSU fans didn't bitch the previous 2 years playing UF when they were down.

I love the LSU/Florida game and think it is a tremendous television game that greatly benefits both programs.

That part was funny tho - Florida never plays anyone outside of Florida... hasn't it been like 40 years since you left the state of Florida for a OOC opponent?

Before you throw out the FSU excuse - that's fine. FSU was great in the 90s... but you obviously can't say "anyone, anywhere, anytime" when Florida hasn't played "anyone anywhere outside of Florida for decades"

I love how Bama fans in this thread think there is absolutely no credence to the argument of imbalanced schedules. Amazing they think like that since the whole rule of the permanent opponent was put there strictly for the benefit of Bama. Yes, you'll likely win the west this year, and play for the SECCG this year, congrats, but why do you simply dismiss the idea that this even remotely an even playing field?

Because Alabama fans and their administration don't believe in complaining about schedules. They just line up and play.

I do not make the schedule. Also, you do not hear UF fans griping about the schedule. FSU is a good program and as talented as everyone annually. It is always a toss up and a rivalry. Not sure how you can bag on that game, but whatever. Point is, LSU fans do not need to drag UF into the discussion, because for the most part, we do not mind it.

Says the fan from the herp derp eastern division. Problem LSU fans have with this is the fact that Bama, like it or not, is almost always an elite to at least very good team. Couple that with the built-in officiating bias and the national branding which gives them the benefit of the doubt in any loss, then top of that you throw in the fact that they just plain don't have to play as tough of a schedule, then yes the chips are pretty stacked before anyone ever takes the field.

I'm not only fine with playing UF every year I enjoy it and would be upset to lose that game - not only is it one of the great games in college football every year it is also great for both programs.

I was just calling you out for the "anyone, anywhere, anytime" nonsense.

Florida uses playing FSU every year as an excuse to never play anyone else OOC in the regular season. That's fine, your team makes scheduling choices to suit your perceived best interests... but it means you'll never get to travel to tOSU, Michigan, Va Tech, USC, Oregon, OU, Texas.... and that is a loss for your program IMO

You do realize that even if Bama had played UF this year and instead of Mizzou and lost to them like you did, that we would still likely be winning the West? It would be a three way tie since Bama, LSU and TAMU would all have the same SEC record and divisional record-and all would be 1-1 against each other. The next tie breaker is the top two ranked in the BCS head to head wich would be LSU and Bama and Bama wins head to head. So even in your scenario Bama wins the West this year and plays UGA in the Dome.
PS--we played and destroyed UF three years in a row from 09-11, the last two in the regular season. I firmly believe we would beat UF this year as well, so even playing them would not likely even affect our NC hopes. So your whining is pointless and wouldn't change anything even if adopted.
