That's funny. A&M has a win reserved for destroying Arkansas each year.

As long as ya'll don't shite the bed against UCLA it should be an ugly one. To me this games is in our favor but the Aggies will want to keep there place in line. Texas A&M is "hump day" for the Hogs.
I know our recent history Aggie.

13. South Carolina

The Gamecocks were last in the SEC in yards per attempt (3.68) and were 13th in rushing yards per game last season
USC was 11th in the SEC in total rushing attempts, and 12th in attempts per game, so being 13th in the SEC in rushing offense may make more sense. Still wasn't good at all though.
Our offense has to reduce the number of back-field tackles by opposing defenses - regardless of whether it's the OL's fault, the QB, or both. Last season, USC was dead last in QB sacks allowed, 13th in tackles for loss allowed, and dead last in BOTH total yds lost to sacks and TFL allowed.
McIlwain, Orth, and Bentley were a combined 129 attempts for 53 net yards, or a 0.4 YPC after all of their sacks and TFLs were figured in. Once the QBs were taken out of the equation, our RBs rushed 346 times for 1,694 net yards, or a 4.90 YPC average. That was with true freshman Rico Dowdle (5.7 YPC) and RS-Fr. AJ Turner (4.3 YPC) accounting for 1,261 of the yardage.
Bentley is more of a pocket passer who can run when he has to, as opposed to a QB who will have running plays, so unlike McIlwain the TFL numbers should drop, but the sacks could still be high unless there's improvement in that area.
Still, both Dowdle and Turner return, plus the addition of power back Ty'Son Williams have the Gamecock faithful optimistic of the run game this season. We'll need to control the ball more this season, so the run game will need to step up...

Interesting fact
South Carolina has had only two 1,000-yard rushers since 2001.
Another interesting fact
South Carolina has had two 1,000-yard rushers since 2010.
Dowdle missed the first 4 games from an off-season sports hernia surgery, in the 9 games he played, he rushed for 764 yds - his 84.9 YPG average would've given him 1,103.6 yds had he played all season and maintained that average. As it was, Dowdle was in the top 10 for FBS teams' freshmen for rushing yds and rushing TDs. We're hoping for a full season of production from him this season....

I love Pettway and Johnson at #1 and #2, and I think they are as good as anybody in the league but it gets awfully thin after that. All three of our top guys were hurt or out completely by the time we got to the UGA game last year and we whiffed in recruiting after Alaric Williams was declared academically ineligible.

Doesn't mean he's better. Fournette was amazing in a horrific offense outside of Bama game. He'd have won a heisman and championships there I'm sure.
considering LF has not played in a NFL game colleg is all we have to go by. So your defense of LF is that LSU sucks? You are throwing the rest of your team under the bus to defend one player vs a much more successful player. Nice.

It doesn't take a college football expert to see that LSU's passing game was pretty horrendous. Not on the players, its on the coaches.

Look man I didn't bring it up. An LSU fan mentioned it. If you want to know why LF has no real argument against Henry then I will tell you. Both offenses were struggling when the two men were the best players on their offenses. When push came to shove, and it was time for each of the men to carry their offenses on their backs Henry performed on the highest level and carried Bama to a championship. When it mattered the most, LF choked. That is the biggest difference between the two backs.

Aeris only had 2 100 yard games because he wasn't the starter last year.
Posted on 8/9/17 at 8:09 am to BowlJackson
Aeris Williams was not our starting RB last year... He has 5.3 yards per carry average which is pretty darn good especially when you pair him up with our QB who is an excellent runner. We also have some good RBs behind him... I'd put us at number 5.

We aren't talking about the NFL. 5.3 YPC is about the average in CFB.

Not to mention we didn't have the depth we have now with Ty'son Williams, Rico, and Turner.

However, they both have endured injuries and that's what keeps the Bulldogs from claiming the No. 1 spot at the position entering the seaso
This reasoning is so dumb. If either of them were the type (crowell comes to mind) that were constantly dinged and nicked up and missing games here and there I'd get it. But here are both guys' injury histories:
Chubb- devastating knee injury in october 2015 that would have sidelined pretty much any mortal for quite a while. He started the 2016 opener and played every game
Michel- 1)Bruised shoulder freshman season and missed 4 games. 2) Broke arm in the offseason of 2016 and missed only the opener.
So basically, they're saying because chubb was injured in his sophomore season and michel was injured in his freshman season, that's keeping them as being the top unit for their senior season. That's stupid.

Uh Devan Barrett?
Yeah I hear you. I guess we didn't whiff totally. I could be wrong but at 6-foot 190 he's not going to be an every-down back or a game changer. I expect he'll redshirt this season unless something dramatic changes.

But I think Arky will actually end up #5 once the season gets going.
If we don't then this will be a death march of a season for Arkansas. We have to establish a running game to pick up short yardage and set up the play action passes that are the engine that drives the Razorback offense.
If teams can shut down the run, which they did a couple of times last year, then things like the TE Waggle play that we've used so well over the last couple of years is much easier to defend.
We have talent at RB, the question is whether our O Line will produce this season. If the answer is no... well it won't be too long until basketball season starts at least.

The article is probably correct in saying that Chubb's injury, in particular, keeps UGA's backfield from being #1. Not because he's injury prone, but because it's not clear if he's back to his former ability. There did appear to be some dropoff last season, so we'll have to see how he does in 2017.
