I agree. Those guys ran tough last year.

Bama has the most talented backfield, period. UGA would be second, LSU 3rd and Auburn 4th.

Yeah.... nope. Bama has one decent back and he is injury prone.

Scarlett and Perine are being REALLY underrated based on this ranking.

Last in the SEC in rushing yards per game. Florida should have been ranked lower.
They may be more talented than that, but they have to prove it first. This ranking isn't based on potential or unrealized talent.

Kamryn Pettway averaged more yards per game by himself last season than Florida did as a team.

Guice is clearly #1

But I'm looking forward to the Ags RB's

Assuming our OL improves

Besides the guy who averaged over 6.5? You're an idiot.

I agree with our ranking. But I expect State to finish in the top half of the sec in rushing this year. Aeries and whoever backs him up will be solid and Fitz will get his yards. We have some really solid backs but not near the Star power of some of the top schools.

Umm Yeah? Are you gonna tell me Derrick Henry is better than Leonard Fournette?

It's arguable whether Pettway and Johnson are the best tandem of backs in the SEC,

They're not. One averages 4.9 ypc and the other 5.9.

Bama's two backs are around 6.5-7 ypc.

There are 4 other team tandems I would take over Pettway/Johnson currently

In no particular order...

Alabama
LSU
A&M
Georgia

Considering Henry has both a Heisman and championship rings. Is the SEC's all time single season rusher. I would say he had a better college career than LF hands down.

I would think it's hard for your running back to have more than two 100 yard games per year when your QB is scatting for 200+ yards in games and coming in second in the league in rushing yards

You just gave accomplishments and stats....

Derrick Henry has better STATS/ACCOMPLISHMENTS... This makes him the more SUCCESSFUL back in college, yes.. Not the BETTER back.

Buga>>> And every analyst/anyone with football knowledge would agree

Scarlett had the most broken tackles in the nation with backs under 200 carries. We had an average at best line and no QB and the kid had to earn every yard. Go watch the game vs LSU and watch him have to grind every yard. If our offensive line is improved, he will be a household name soon.

Why would you think that?

In 2010 Cam Newton led the SEC in rushing yards and rushing TDs. (He had more of both than Fitz did this season)
Mike Dyer had 4 games over 100 yards and over 1000 yards on the season. Plus we had Onterrio McCalleb with over 800 rushing yards and Mario Fannin with another 400

In 2013 Tre Mason led the SEC in rushing yards and was 5th in the NCAA with over 1800 (500 more than Fitz), and led the SEC and was 3rd in the NCAA with 23 rushing TDs (7 more than Fitz).
Our second leading rusher was the QB Nick Marshall who had over 1000 yards and 12 TD.

Mason had 9 games of over 100 yards and a 10th with 99.
But Marshall still had 4 games with over 100 yards rushing (one over 200)
Hell, just in the SECCG alone Mason had over 300 rushing yards and Marshall still managed to break 100 on the ground.

And 2013 we still had two other RBs over 600 yards and 6 TD each

Did the same thing again in 2014 with Marshall and Cameron Artis-Payne (who led the SEC in rushing that season)

And again last season with Pettway and Kerryon Johnson.

Anyway, point is that Auburn has never had any trouble having multiple rushers with multiple games over 100 yards.
Why does that seem like a hard thing to a State fan?

As the original Opie stated...At the end of the year, we will defiantly be in the top 1/2 with Whaley having well over 1000 yards...I'm guessing 1500. He was a freshman that was 2nd behind RWIII and he is way more gifted...and I'm not taking anything away from RWIII.

Williams the transfer will add some experience to the backfield with 2 freshman primed to share #2 RB touches...4* Chase Hayden (Dad played for UT) and 3* Malek Williams out of Florida.

Hayden is fast and elusive and Williams is more of a Bielema RB you would see when he was at Wisconsin. Both of them will flourish in our O in the coming years.

I'll predict that Whaley will get 2nd team SEC at end of year

I would think it's hard for him to have more than 2 100 yard games because frickin Mullen kept running our 2 scrub seniors for most of the year. So happy I don't have to watch a 165 back run up the middle over and over again anymore.

So the QB whisperer isn't that great with RBs?

Imagine if we could combine Mullens brain for coaching QBs with Malxahns brain for the running game ... the offense would be unstoppable

Doesn't mean he's better. Fournette was amazing in a horrific offense outside of Bama game. He'd have won a heisman and championships there I'm sure.

In fact put Henry on LSU and Fournette on Bama

Bama still Bamas and LSU still LSUs and I doubt he's as successful here as LF was. Highly doubt.
