Thanks man. They got the tree off him around midnight. Took him to the Piggy Wiggly parking lot and from there an ambulance got him to the hospital. Crushed hip and they're worried about lack of circulation as the tree was on him for 6+ hours. The expectations are that he'll be ok long term.

Have a cousin in Moody who got three elderly people out of a demolished home and waited with them until EMS got there. That was around 8pm. A cop who knows him told his wife he was going back to look for others. He hasn't been heard from since.

I sincerely appreciate all the prayers. I believe they made a difference.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family Flesh.

For your area only, or for everyone who is currently without?

After seeing what happened in Alabama, I had everything set up in our safe room....candles, shoes, pillows, flashlights. Had everything that was loose outside stowed away.

And it didn't even rain a drop. We were fortunate, but praying for those who weren't.

We got hit with bad weather here in Knoxville. Strong winds, hail, and poured down rain. Was a frightening experience.

Was on the phone last night with my family, it sounded pretty monstrous. My dad couldn't get his car all the way home because of trees in the road.

Glad you're okay, CNB. Praying for everyone in the Southeast.

As far as I know, all of Auburn/Opelika is safe. I don't think it even rained at my house, just a bunch of lightning.

The straight-line winds did more damage in my area than anything. It looks like a bomb went off at 280/Cahaba River Rd & Dolly Ridge. Trees are on top of houses. It's just awful.

My cousins house in Pleasant Grove is gone (they're hurt, but not life threatening) and we can't locate one of our friends in Tuscaloosa yet. Friends in Concord are accounted for.

Those of us in the SE part of Alabama dodged this one and my prayers are with all of you that live in the damaged areas. Godspeed.

Some Auburn people set up a facebook page with information and requests for the people affected by the storm in Tuscaloosa and elsewhere. There is some good info over there. SIAP

Toomer's for Tuscaloosa

A good friend lives in Brook Highland, right off of 280, and he said they didn't have any damage but were without power all day yesterday. I was freaking out when the tornado was bearing down on Birmingham and I didn't know what side it was going to get. Thankfully he was able to get my texts.

ETA: Cousin is in the hospital. Sheriff is saying he helped save 16 people. Kid is a straight up hero.

Prayers to you and your loved ones, Flesh. I have friends that I have still not been able to get in contact with - I am praying that they are okay.

I hope you get in touch with your friend nite. The ppl I know in Tuscaloosa are all accounted for and ok. I don't have to go in the 280 area but I heard it was real bad like you said. My commute was pretty tame except for 1 traffic light on Lakeshore being out.

I just hope the power comes on soon

Apparently that area is not too bad. The tornado downtown really freaked me out. I had no power so I was listening to the radio in my car and all I heard was "tornado and St. Vincent's" (apparently they were using the ALDot camera at St. Vincents). My sister was at the UAB dorms.

Pratt City and Forestdale look like war zones at the moment. Cherry Ave has no road. The concrete is just gone.

I so too. Everyone else I know in the damaged areas are accounted for, except for her. I hope your power comes on soon. I know that's rough.

call 1-800-RED CROSS or text the word REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation. Contributions may also be sent to your local American Red Cross chapter.

I wouldn't give a dime to the "American Red Cross." They'll scam the hell out of you. Make sure it goes to the "Alabama Red Cross" chapter otherwise it goes into their national fund and is not used for Alabama. That's what happened after Katrina in Louisiana.
