Do you not realize how many blacks moved up North for job opportunities through the decades?? Not to mention, quite a few black families from La. moved to California for opportunities through the earlier decades. The whole point is that the arguement these Michigan folks are using is pure bullshite

New York, Ohio and Michigan have more blacks than Alabama.

That map represents % of black persons by county, NOT total population. Most of the predominantly black counties in Alabama, for example, are rural and sparsely populated.

Total black population as of the 2010 census:

Michigan 1,373,826
Alabama 1,221,441

This is 100% true. The Big 10, Big 8, Pac 10 etc was at its peak when it could convince black southerners to move north. Now, black kids feel safe in the south and it is over for the Big Ten/Pac 12. Get over it.

Last time I checked, citizens of the U.S. were pretty much free to live where they wanted to. Quite a few southern blacks moved North to work during the auto factory etc. heyday.

Yes, the black population is concentrated in the South, but it is not because of some conspiracy by the SEC to insure football dominance.

Maybe the Big 10 schools need to do a better job of recruiting.

The Big Ten had a real bad day, just as the SEC did the day before. Clearly Ala, Miss St did an outstanding job. Congrats

Just to be clear... the map shows the percentage of blacks in particular counties. It's possible that the entire delta region, which has a low population density, could have a smaller total population than the Chicago metro area or Detroit metro area. While the map seems to show an overwhelmingly larger population of blacks in the south, the numbers may not be quite so lopsided.

I don't know the actual numbers, I'm just saying.

ROFL at the Meeechigun fan dogging the SEC, then telling us to keep it classy.

I had no overall problem with Michigan untill now. to me, they rate up their with tOSU. I hope both teams are skull fricked for a long time to come.
