That was 2011.They were the biggest in college or pro. They certainly did suck at the beginning of the year but eventually got better after they got in shape.

But BSU wore those guys out and I think we had 50
lbs on each of them.

Very similar to UT in '05. Huge OL, preseason hype...too slow to be effective.

NFL Linemen are fricking massive.

that's changing though, Justin Britt is starting for the Seahawks, and is a 300 pound lineman, it's about quickness, agility and strength, when trying to stay with fast edge rushers or go out and block quicker players in space. Being way overweight doesn't help with that.

It's similar to this picture taken by Reuters:

Mathieu Valbuena is only about 5'6", and the defenders are about 6'4". But it's that lean/angle that kills it.

Mizzou returns 4 OL, but it sounds very possible that one of our starters could lose his spot to an incoming JUCO.

I played OL and DL in HS and DL briefly in college before getting injured and transferring to UGA. Honestly, the best OT I played against at any level was 6'5" but only about 255 lbs. he had quick feet, a long wingspan, and really good bend that allowed him to get leverage. My HS had two 6'3" 300+ pounders at the tackles and they were a liability because they were too fat and too slow. Size helps, but it doesn't mean shite without athleticism.
