Other than Ohio State, many analysts believe Penn State, Michigan or Wisconsin should also be considered for this year playoffs. Does this mean that Big10 has taken over SEC as the best football conference or SEC has lost its elite status? With Alabama's dominance in SEC, it becomes much more difficult for LSU (and rest of SEC) to have a chance to play in the playoffs in the future?

Any Given Saturday.
But yeah as a whole the SEC West is still the most solid conference/division. They battle the stiffest competition week in and week out.

big 10 is the best this year. The 2nd best SEC team has 4 losses and the big 10 will have 3 teams in the top 10 maybe 4

This year we are not the best, but it will be a long time before any conference is consistently better than the SEC. We had our worst overall year in over a decade while the Big 10 had four or five really great teams. That's just as uncharacteristic as them as it was for us to have such a poor showing this year. Next year order will be restored, I believe. Auburn, UGA, USC, Kentucky, State and UF will improve. LSU I honestly have no idea but I expect a year very similar to this one. Bama will stay Bama.

I think the problem is the Big Ten just has significantly better coaches than the SEC outside of Nick Saban. They have Urban Meyer, Harbaugh, and Franklin. Two of those poached form the SEC itself. The SEC has had a tendency to hire Nick Saban's assistants and they haven't had the same success. I might take D'antoni too over any other coach in the SEC. SEC needs a coach influx. Talent is definitely still there.

I think the SEC, top to bottom is still better than B1G, but their top teams are better than ours this year.

#6 Wisconsin- lost 3 games this year, all by exactly 7 points. Ohio St., Michigan, and Penn St. Their best win on the season was actually against LSU. It's ironic that people are so quick to dog on us (deservedly so), but when they're defending Wisconsin, that is the go to "quality" win that keeps them ranked so high. "But they beat LSU at the beginning of the year." The argument is somewhat justified based on out of conference play of all these high ranked B1G schools outside of Penn St. losing to Pitt. Considering LSU was top 4 in the SEC this year, that kind of says a lot based on all the shite you hear on tRant about how terrible our season was.

Wisconsin actually kind of remind me of Arkansas in 2011. They lost two regular season games- LSU and Alabama. Except the B1G had four teams this year and not 3 like that year. Sucks to suck I guess. You gotta win the big ones to make the bigger ones.

That being said, I don't think you can put both Penn St. and Ohio St. in this thing. Bama, Washington, and Clemson have earned it.

Ohio St. will go. Ironically, people have been saying that if Clemson or Washington would've lost, Michigan could've snuck in because they had beaten both Wisconsin and Penn St. So how much value does head to head actually hold with Penn. St. beating Ohio St.?

We'll find out real soon.

Lets put it this way. The SEC broke in more new starting QBs than any other conference. Playing against mostly top notch SEC defenses. Answer me who is your top SEC QB after this season.

SEC has the best record of all conferences.

SEC has a better record than Big Ten vs. P5's.
SEC has a better record than Big Ten vs. G5's.
SEC has a better record than Big Ten vs. FCS.

Missouri is the worst SEC team. They were #80 in the Massey Composite as of last week; there were four Big Ten teams ranked below them.

The average SEC team is ranked #39 in Massey; the average Big Ten team is ranked #48.

If you think that the Big Ten is a better conference than the SEC, it's because you are looking at partial data and are uninformed.

Agree. Bama may be the best team, but they are head and shoulders, chests, hips and knees above everyone else in this league.

This year they are correct and with the coaches they have, I believe they will be in the future.

The SEC West is still the most taxing divisional schedule in college football when you look at talent on the field. There are no roll over teams and everybody has high expectations. When everybody has expectations and somebody has to lose you get years where the losses are spread around amongst the teams (Bama is just that good).

If LSU had Penn States schedule we would be talking about LSU as an "elite" team. It's all about schedules.

Let's put it this way, would those teams you mentioned have the same record in the SEC this year?

I think they may have done better in the SEC. PSU, Wisc, OSU, and Michigan all would have won the East.

SEC not the best conference

Long term the SEC has been the best but not this year. Only time will tell but the Big 10 definitely has strong set of coaches and are recruiting better.
