Stop falling in love with WAR. It's a tiny sample size for each. I personally would put Bregs now, but I can see it both ways. Back in college, I liked Swanny's game more.

Bregman started 40 at 3B, 6 games at SS, 3 at DH, 2 at 2B and 1 in LF.
Swanson started 36 games at SS.
Bregman was not a shortstop last season in his time in the majors.

I wonder why.
Bragman came up because they had to make room for him. He was mashing in the minors. He won't be a shortstop this year either. He'll be playing 3B and OF.

Swanson had a higher AVG, OBP and OPS. They had literal equal OPS+ numbers. Swanson also had higher range numbers and fielding % numbers and played a ton more games at the position than Bregman did.

Sure - but this list is slotting in MLB players at their MLB positions.
As you said, Bregman isn't a MLB shortstop right now, and won't be for the near (and maybe far) future.

quote:I said "pros." Bregmans numbers are honestly great, considering he went 0-21 to start his major league career. If you take the entirety of their play last season, from their time in the minors to the MLB, Bregs was playing better baseball.

And Bregs had a higher wRC+ (my favorite stat)

Yea, they both had great starts and should be very good players. Arguing one was significantly better than the other last year is silly.

Benny, Forsythe, McCann, and Keuchel are all good choices from Arkansas.
Craig Gentry may be about done if nobody picks him up. He has really struggled since he left the Rangers.
Drew Smyly is pretty effective and Im interested in seeing how he does with the Mariners this season.
Mike Bolsinger was traded from LA to Toronto. Im not sure if he has much left in the tank. His numbers aren't very good so far.
Matt Reynolds needs to have a good spring for the Mets.
I was really sad to see Brett Eibner get traded from the Royals last season. He had been pretty clutch for them during a stretch before he was injured. He also seemed to be a fan favorite. Now with the Dodgers, it will be interesting to see what happens with Eibner. Always have hoped that kid would do well. He came up with big hit after big hit while at Arkansas.

Since every team has to shuffle relievers up and down throughout the year, Louis Coleman, Nick Goody, and Nick Rumbelow from LSU would be on the AAA squad for this team. I don't know if Ryan Schimpf has been mentioned yet, but he'd be a good pinch hitter/spot INF.
I think Harrison Bader and Andrew Stevenson have a chance to make the majors this year. Austin Nola has been knocking on the door for a few years now so he may finally get a cup of coffee in the majors as well.

I didn't realize that. I guess catchers would be McCann and Zunino or Avila?

Also on this theoretical team Bregman would likely get everyday type at bats as a super utility guy and injury fill in across the IF and in LF. I like Swanson more defensively at SS and that's why I would put him there everyday and move Bregman around.
