Does anyone care about track other than Arkansas fans? They wouldn't even care if it wasn't the only thing they can attempt to prop their athletic program up with. I'd much rather have hockey and soccer than track or swimming.

And Pele is still the only player that I can name.

Lionel Messi
David Beckham
Wayne Rooney
Zenadine Zedane (because of the headbutting incident)
Jürgen Klinsmann

Except during the Olympics, no one pretends that track matters.

The board voted last month and decided that anyone who answers with a roflmao emoticon is a dumbass.

Just thought you should know.

Also, if you do not recognize, believe and accept the fact that soccer is growing in popularity in the US by leaps and bounds ... then you're still a dumbass.

Do I like it? No, not necessarily because I think it signals some bad things for the country's future. It's mostly being generated by the surge of illegal immigrants whose home-country sport is soccer. But it is inevitable. I guess now we know how the Europeans felt when basketball invaded their countries.

If more "Americans" are watching soccer today, it's only because of the demographic switch effected by Teddy Kennedy's 1965 immigration law. I promise you: No American whose great-grandfather was born here is watching soccer. One can only hope that, in addition to learning English, these new Americans will drop their soccer fetish with time.

Klinsmann is the current US National Team coach.
Beckham played with the Galaxy for a few years.

Like someone else said the soccer craze happens every 4 hers during the World Cup.

Hell i NEVER watch/played/followed or had anything to do with soccer. But right now I'm glued to my tv watching AMERICA play soccer.

As soon we are eliminated from the World Cup I will go back i never thinking about soccer again and I think 98% of America will do the same.

Get rid of college baseball and replace it with soccer. We would dominate the SEC.

Club sport. The biggest play is the equivalent to a chip shot field goal.

We lost. Time to take the euro-fairies off TV before our kids start watching it.

Only sports that matters are Football and Basketball. Every thing else is fluff. Soccer is better than baseball. It is the future.

With Title XI, all you'd need is for at least 4 SEC schools to also add a women's sport to balance out the schollies and it could be something cheap like lacrosse, rowing or bowling.

It honestly is not that hard in theory.... now trying to get an athletic dept to get on board with two sports is tough, you'd need dedicated funds to start it up.

A big reason why the World hates us. They having NOTHING to fall back on. I have English friends who still have flashbacks of their teams torturous exits in the 90s.... we just move on to the next sport. God Bless America, suck it world.

Would the best players even play soccer at the collegiate level?

It seems like most go pro pretty early. Am I wrong?

I know the backup goalie for the US team played at Carolina, but I think that is a rarity.
