Duke would make the SEC the undisputed power in all major sports.

I would think the SEC would go after UNC before Duke...but good luck splitting them up. Will never happen..one of them or both.

View it as a package. If Duke is required to get UNC, do you think that those two combined offer no value?

I can think of two basketball games a year that would be nationally desired. Nationally. Seems like that tier 3 content would brig some serious money to the table. Add in 4 bball games if you consider Kentucky playing those teams as well. UNC baseball? Also seems like a great thing to plug on the SEC Network.

So adding UNC and Duke to the conference wouldn't make the SEC the best basketball conference in the country?

Who implied we wanted to be the best basketball conference in the country? Would be nice, but we won't do it at the expense of football.

Duke will never be an SEC school. We won't take them both. A few additional basketball games /=/ a full primetime football season in Virginia. There is about $160 million reasons that the 16th team will add major TV markets...

This is why many have said North Carolina St. is a possibility.
I would rather a package of NC St./VT over NC/Duke

It's funny how a Media day website traffic thread turned into conference expansion,

UNC and NC State share a Board of Regents. I have heard that the Board is made up of more UNC sympathizers than NC State. They probably would not let them get from under their thumb.

This is why many just blindly guess. Realistically Slive doesn't want to destabilize the ACC. Those teams are perfectly acceptable where they are. It keeps them marginalized and at bay.

If it was a life money grab, UNC/Duke would be undoubtedly a smarter move. You deliver all of North Carolina, and bring in the biggest rivalry in all of college basketball. UNC football would be formidable, and combined with baseball they would shore up the SEC networks demand in the spring. In fact their viewership in the spring would be the highest in all the SEC. Va Tech and bC State wouldn't come close to that. Sure. Would Virginia Tech be a more interesting football game for the rest of us? Yes. No question. But money wise they wouldn't bring as much as a UNC/Duke package.

Pretty german thread, and I'll say it again the SEC website stream was shitty. Most everyone I know that watched any of it did so on TV or used espn3. I watched on espn3 and I got to see the commentary between interviews and didn't have a single problem with the connection or broadcast.

Ags just couldn't figure out the best option for watching.
