I have said this before, but we got some rough matchups in some of those bowls. Ark and A&M had lower tier bowls and don't count.

Ole Miss (Sec #5) vs TCU (Big 12 #1)
MSU (SEC #3 or #4) vs GT (ACC #2)
Auburn (SEC #7) vs Wisc (BIG #2)

The MSU vs GT game was a closer matchup, but the Aub vs Wisc and Ole Miss vs TCU were very lopsided matchups and it showed in those games.

The Georgia Tech game was a shite show and was not as close as it looked

Plus - GA Tech? TCU? Those are not schools that any respectible SEC school gets their shite pushed in by.

yeah, Tech beat us, but it was a tight and hard fought game that we probably let slip away. State never had a chance.

MS State never had any business being ranked No. 1 last year. the SEC, especially the SEC West were just overblown last year. Way over rated.

As a conference, we deserve to lose respect after last year. It ain't just Bleacher Report, the national perception of our conference took a major hit last year.

I was going by conference standings. Missouri and Georgia had better records than us. That's why I wasn't sure about MSU since they had the same as Georgia.

I know, just like Boise St right? I'm sure you have no idea about that though.

You do realize if not for a field goal as time expired TCU would have lost to West Virginia last year. The final score was 31-30

losing by a TD to a decent team was not a contributing factor to the SEC's loss of prestige. Aubbies loss was not that big of a deal either.

The Mississippi schools, with their lofty mid-season rankings into the top 3 and their total beatdowns in bowls was the biggest thing

2nd was Bama vs OSU

3rd was the overall record of SEC teams in bowls

And this is why you pull for other SEC teams out of conference.

that is a fair statement

but let's be real, UGA losing to the team that developed the "giant killer" reputation; beating the likes of Oklahoma and Oregon; in the 1st game of the year does not do nearly as much to hurt the conference as does Ole Miss getting rung up like a Div III paid patsy in a "New Year's Six" bowl game to the Horny Frogs

if you think it does, you are delusional...

I actually agree with what they are saying to an extent.

The East and more specifically UF needs to get its schtik together as well.

Bama, MSU, and Ole Miss getting handled in their bowl game doesn't help at all with perception. LSU and AU losing hurts as well.

I'd say losing the benefit of the doubt is appropriate after all of those things happened.

Wrong. MSU was the second best team in the B1G last season and they beat Baylor.

Alabama's failures in the last 2 post seasons have been the biggest blow to the SEC by far.

if you mean the state of gump, I agree, Bama and Aubie blowing NC's back to back has made it much more difficult for the rest of the SEC to save face, "but we lost to the NC" has such a ring to it compared to "well we didn't win or place, but we showed".

So Wisconsin did not finish 2nd in the Big Ten? So they didnt finish with a 7-1 record with only Ohio State being better than them in the league? interesting.

After 1 bowl season? The hell happens when over the next few years, everyone realizes that the other conferences still suck?

Sure, there are teams out there playing well and some who are elite. But the other conferences still suck arse. The ACC is putrid. The Pac is getting better for sure but I think they peaked last year. Maybe not though. The Big 12 is pretty bad and the Big 10 is garbage. I refuse to buy this shite about them rising with the quickness until I see it. Ohio State winning a NC is proof of nothing as far as the whole conference goes.

The SEC is still recruiting at an insane level. QB play was pretty bad last year in the SEC. Solid QBs will emerge on some of these teams and it'll be business as usual. This is the SEC's down period and it's still probably better than every other conference.

It's two bowl seasons. Wake up!!!

SEC hasn't won a major bowl game in two seasons.

This isn't a bad thing though. Just cheer on your own school and if a team in the conference loses so what.

Look closely at the records. Michigan st was 2nd best in the big ten. They went 11-2 with their only losses to final 4 teams.

Wisky and State finished tied for 2, if you actually look at it.

True, but not all records are equal under the surface, and the rankings usually reflect that. Wisconsin was very similar to Mizzou last year.

Agreed, but thats not the point that was trying to be made.

Not really, rankings are a derivative of records

Uga was ranked ahead of mizzou despite one less win and one more loss. It appears pollsters do look beyond The surface. Michigan st and Wisconsin is a similar comparison.
