Well. I guess we will just have to win every game now.

Our champs have been down the past 2 years. No doubt about it. What the west did in the bowls was a major blow.

Usually the SEC being overrated bitching is just jealousy, but it was justified with last year's bowl performances

Nothing justifies bleacher report. Nothing.

I have said this before, but we got some rough matchups in some of those bowls. Ark and A&M had lower tier bowls and don't count.

Ole Miss (Sec #5) vs TCU (Big 12 #1)
MSU (SEC #3 or #4) vs GT (ACC #2)
Auburn (SEC #7) vs Wisc (BIG #2)

The MSU vs GT game was a closer matchup, but the Aub vs Wisc and Ole Miss vs TCU were very lopsided matchups and it showed in those games.

You do realize if not for a field goal as time expired TCU would have lost to West Virginia last year. The final score was 31-30

Yeah and Ohio St lost to Virginia Tech. Didn't seem to matter as they won the championship game.

What the hell does TCU "almost" losing to West Virginia have to do with anything?

Because you're complaining about getting a "rough matchup". Arky and A&M both would have given TCU a tougher game.

I was at the bowl game. OM played like a 50th ranked team.

I don't think he was talking smack, but just being honest. It's actually been this way for a long time and isn't anything new. Go back and look at past Cotton Bowls for examples.

edit: And don't look at team rankings, but where they finished in their conference.

I used to make a spreadsheet for this because I've lived out of state for a while and people always point at the sec going around .500 in bowl games as why we are an overrated conference. Our games are like this every year, we will have a middle of the pack sec team lose to a conference champion or runner up. The evenly matched games usually end up in the sec's favor.

One example is the 2007 Cotton Bowl between Arkansas and Missouri, which Mizzou fans use to rub in our face. Missouri went to the Big 12 CG and finished 4th? in the nation. Arkansas tied 3 other teams for 6th in the SEC and finished #25.

Having said this, if the SEC is going to have more teams ranked, then this should be expected, so it's not a good excuse.

Alabama's failures in the last 2 post seasons have been the biggest blow to the SEC by far. For the better part of the past decade Alabama has been the king of the SEC/Nation and the fact that they were taken down by schools from the Big 12 and B1G hurts the SECs overall image. Had Alabama beaten Ohio State and Oregon to win the title last year, the bowl losses by Auburn, Ole Miss, LSU and Miss State would have been overlooked.

Heavy is the crown.

I wasn't complaining about anything. I was simply pointing out the discrepancies in the conference standings. If you took that as complaining you need to clean out your vagina.

Not as bad of a source as it was, say, six years ago. They are now owned by a legitimate news organization (can't remember which) and employ writers who actually know what they are talking about now.

The problem with that logic is that the sec teams were consistently higher rated in the top 25 throughout the season, regardless of their position in their conference. I mean shite at one point the top 4 teams in the cfb playoff standings were sec teams. Tcu and Wisconsin were rated higher going into the bowl game, but we're still considered underdogs to win.

I am on record saying the sec is by far and away the best conference. But at some point the hyperbole has gotten too extreme

Who were the #2 and #4 teams in the SEC? MSU and Ole Miss were the highest other ranked teams before bowl games?
