Mullen. Remember the collective WTF!? when he was announced as HC and people began proclaiming that he had just killed off his coaching career, because nobody could turn MSU around? He's pretty well kicked that notion.

another thread. Ill post what I just posted in a different thread.

Mullen is NOT coach of the year. Here is why:

MSU won because of a favorable schedule. They didnt beat anyone good. They won 1 division game and did not one single team currently ranked in the top 25.
The teams that MSU BEAT had a combined record of 38-52. MSU is much better than last year, but it is somewhat smoke and mirrors. Florida (7-5) is the only team MSU beat that had a winning record.

Even with that schedule though. Sly wouldve been 3-9

All credit goes to MSU for winning the games they were supposed too. Sometimes that isnt a sure thing (see Ole Miss), but a Coach of the year doesnt go 1-4 in division.

Well it surely can't be the "Chiz", his team's supremacy is the result of Gus Malzahn. I would say Petrino or Spurrier are neck and neck. Mullen has it in the right direction, but has a ways to go yet.

From an performance v. expectation standpoint, Lester has to be the front-runner in that category, wouldn't you think?

Chizik and there is no one close. Petrino or Spurrier would be the #2 guy.

Nutt without a doubt. What an impressive resume this year from start to finish.

its not fair to throw a coach that pays players in the mix with mullen and the ole ball coach.

Chizik is SEC coach of the year, and it isn't close. I know most of you hate Auburn, but this is a no-brainer.

But he's at Auburn. Aren't they expected to do big things every year. MSU, SC and Arky. Not so much.

Fixed.

The coaching staff that he has assembled and his ability to keep everyone focused through all of the distractions make me think that he should get it.
