Baseball was never considered a big sport until the late 90s. It never really garnered much attention except for a few schools. Most of the best players skipped college.

Nice try but umm not really. However, Auburn wasn't really good at anything til the 80s and 90s. I guess that means talks don't count?

No, College baseball drew the attention of very few people within the SEC. Arizona St and some West Coast Teams consistently recruited players who were higher Draft picks out of HS, the rest choose College because it was their best and only option. Everyone wants to think the aluminum bat was for economic purposes, truth was it was because the game had become so dull at the College level.

How do you measure that? Schools didn't all integrate in the same year?

He is 100% correct

Baseball has only recently become more popular in the SEC with a group of 6-7 schools pumping money in their programs. One could argue SEC baseball has reached its climax lately with the inception of the SEC Network as well.

It is still Football and Basketball then the rest of the sports as far as popularity and the money grab goes.

It really isn't laughable. He has a point.

Until the mid to late 2000's you weren't going to find SEC baseball games on television unless teams made it to the CWS. Certainly not in the 80's or 90's.

Only recently has the game become more accessible on tv sets and only recently have programs started to pump money into their baseball venues.

Baseball is popular in the south. Hockey is king in the midwest and north. Lacrosse is just as popular in some other spots.

Half to this league does not even turn a profit on their baseball programs.

Both schools are integrated. East side has always wanted to stay mostly black. Are they making a single central school now?

And there's nothing wrong with that. Not saying you were implying that.

Baseball is a regional sport. It's popular in the South and the West. It doesn't take a meteorologist to determine why. Hockey is popular in the north. Again, not hard to figure out why.

Hell women's basketball is still a more popular sport nation-wide.

Btw, Lacrosse is awesome. Played it in high school.
