I think it's pretty funny myself. Why should I root for a 5-7 Cowbell team?
The only way this bowl season would be depressing for me would be an LSU blowout loss.

Yes I would and it would be damn funny. I root against SEC competition every year. I can't bring myself to have a liking for these teams during the bowl season.
Any time a team goes undefeated I have them in high regard, regardless of conference.
As far as reputation goes, at least LSU would stand out nationally and to recruits for winning alone. I think you people need to calm down. The SEC has been king for a while now with all our national championships. So what if we have a bad bowl year. We've been in the playoffs since their inception. Grab a beer and enjoy football.

I'm old enough to remember when the SEC was considered a high med-level conference and not to be compared to the BIG-10, PAC-10 or Southwest Conference.

Pac-12 and Big-10 both recently had playoff appearances and wins, so I think it's moreso your perception doesn't match their reputation nationally. But I see your point.
Just know that with pulling for over a dozen of your conference rivals you're bound to be disappointed and frustrated year after year by some of them.

Hell no, why root for a conference rival? Just because my team is in the SEC doesn't mean I love your team.

We will probably finish at 7-7 for a .500 bowl season, which is terrible for the SEC

It is not that Arkansas lost.
VT is a pretty good team. It is the way they lost. I stopped watching at the half, thinking it was over. Did not watch the second half until yesterday.

Sec has dominated the bowl seasons going back a long time. This year is a down year considering previous years.
