SOS

UGA has an OOC RPI SOS of 81 and an overall SOS of 32

Now look at LSU...

LSU has an OOC RPI SOS of 193(very, very bad) and an overall SOS of 100(still not good)

Basically, the formula shows that UGA being 17-9 with their SOS is more impressive than LSU being 19-8 against their much weaker SOS.

Make sense?

Makes sense. I guess that's why people complain about the RPI a lot. the formula may spit out an RPI of 34 for UGA, but they seem to have no more spectacular of a resume than any other of these other borderline teams.

I think if A&M splits the final four games going and stays in the Top 40 RPI wise, we need to win at least 1 game in the SEC tourney to feel comfortable. If we go 3-1 w/ a loss to Ark, I think we are good to go even if we lose our first game in the SEC tournament. That would give us 22 wins, and I have a hard time seeing us get left out in that scenario. Just my 2 cents.

UK ranked 2 to a 5 loss Kansas team is all I need to know about the RPI, with one of those L's being a 32 pt drubbing by UK.

UGA is 2-3 against the top 50 but you have it into account that 2 of the losses are to 1 seeds. We will get another one next week when we play UK

Another thing is UGA's worst loss is to 130 Auburn. They have 3 other losses to 100+ RPI teams, but they're all right around 100. No losses to 150+ RPI teams

LSU has 2 losses to teams dang near RPI 200. So that hurts compared to UGA. Then also the loss to 130 Auburn.

A&M is in strange spot. There's nothing bad that stands out on their tournament resume. However, there's nothing really "good" on there either. A&M hasn't shown that they can beat anyone who's worth a damn this year other than LSU (and that's only if you consider LSU to be worth a damn). Outside of LSU, they've lost to every potential tournament team they've played (Dayton, Baylor, UK, Ole Miss, UGA) Arkansas is really their last shot to put a great win on the resume. If they lose that game I think they're far from a lock

I was proven wrong when I thought Arkansas would fold down the stretch and I questioned if solidly in the field.

They are actually could be in line for a 4 seed. I am not sure though they will get that high, 5 most likely. I think their best bet is to get a 6 and stay on 2/3 side of bracket in NCAA tourney.

3/6 is usually very evenly matched and causes upsets.

When it comes to LSU vs. A&M, you are going on consistency versus potential. A&M has been a lot more consistent and they do not really play up or down to their competition. Hence no great wins, no terrible losses.

LSU on the other hand, could beat anyone, but can also lose to teams with an RPI of 200.

LSU is up to 51 per ESPN. Kansas State jumped up to 90 after beating Kansas, meaning that A&M has no bad losses.

A potential melt is brewing. I can smell a "LSU basketball is back?" thread. Is it even an upset anymore when LSU loses to a shite team?

I would like them to sine a few. If they can get their RPI in the low 40s, it makes our resume look better.

Sorry, but after extensive research Hawgeye made good use of his PhD is statistics and has assured us that, short of going undefeated the rest of the way, LSU can't possible finish in the top 50.

4 of the SEC's top 7 scorers and all 3 top rebounders will all be playing in the LSU vs Auburn game tonight.

So I guess it's a quality win for us now?
