Because we're 12-12 and have a first year coach looking for momentum against a top 20 team. In general, it doesn't seem those outside of Montgomery or lacking orange and blue glasses care about the game.

Then it sounds like your issue is midweek games in general. I think its fairly common for good teams to drop midweek games. Typically the big name programs are starting a pitcher with little experience, while the mid-major team is often starting their best pitcher. I think most anyone realizes that losing midweek games just happens from time to time in college baseball.
Just look at Mitch Gaspard's record against UAB or Samford. The fact that he hovered around .500 in league play is amazing.

But if the issue is midweek games in general, why is there such a demand to drop the one in Montgomery?
Is there? Other than three posts in this thread out of frustration, I don't see people wanting it to end. Just a better showing in the series. Hopefully Greg Goff changes things. He's got a lot more to work with from the getgo, than Gaspard did. Arguably.

What I do not understand is why they also do not play a game at Regions Field in Bham every other year. Wait, maybe because they get the SEC tournament there every year.
Alabama plays UAB there every year.

Did not realize that, I did not think you would play them in anything.

Alabama plays UAB, Samford, and Troy home-and-home nearly every season in baseball.

Softball and baseball play a home and home with UAB and have for as long as I remember. Also the SEC tournament is still in Hoover at the Met, not Regions Park.

but I understand the Montgomery Barners love it and that's why we're playing it in the first place.
Auburn just happens to win this game every year and bring a good crowd doing so

We do three with FSU
1 in G'ville
1 in Tally
1 in Jax
Maybe that could work.

So its now only a "silly" game when Bama can't ever win it?
No it's silly because the teams already play a series every year, and I don't see the point of them playing a non-conference game on top of it. Clearly the series that counts towards the league standings (and when you have both teams best pitchers throwing) carries far more weight than a Tuesday non-conference game. It's silly they feel the need for it when there are other programs in the state and the region that they could play on a random Tuesday night.

FYI I've not seen any LSU fans screaming to drop their annual game against Tulane despite their team losing to the Green Wave last night.
Oh I didn't realize Tulane was back in the SEC. I must've missed their annual conference weekend series.

And while y'all are doing that, we're playing a h/h series every year against ancient in-state rival Georgia Tech
