By the way, regarding the stats on players from SEC schools who made it to the Major Leagues, I emailed Sean from Baseball Almanac, and he updated his website to create a page for Sewanee.

It turns out that there were actually two Sewanee Tigers who made it to the Majors: Charlie Dexter (who played on the 1894 Sewanee baseball team) & Frank Ellerbe (who played on the 1915 & 1916 teams before transferring to Wofford).

SABRpedia: LINK.
Baseball Almanac: LINK.

That makes for 690 Major Leaguers who came from the 17 schools that were at some point part of the SEC, 323 of which made their ML debut since 1989.

323 / 24 years = about 13.5 per year

Bama has 2 nonconference games coming up with Samford and Jacksonville State then a series with UGA. They should be able to handle the nonconf games if they start hitting more consistently and if they get that sorted out then they should take the series against UGA, possibly even go for a sweep. Bama's easy schedule has helped them out so far but theyre still an average/below average team.

I made this for another thread, but maybe it would be better in this one.

Maybe this was done some time ago, but I don't remember, and I was just curious so I decided to look it up and post it.

CWS Appearances
1951, 1964, 1993, 1999, 2011

Vanderbilt (1 Total, 0 Championships)
CWS Appearances
2011

Some interesting observations/notes:
-The CWS has been played since 1947.
-The SEC really didn't start asserting its dominance with appearances until the 1990's and through present day.
-The SEC has had atleast 1 team in the CWS since 1990, EXCEPT in 1992.
-An SEC team has won 9 of the past 21 National Championships.
-South Carolina has been 6 times in the past 10 years.
-LSU has been 5 times since 2000
-UF and UGA have been 4 times since 2000

-Side Note: Texas is near the top with 6 CWS Championships, but did you also know they've been Runner-Up 6 times as well...which is the most and makes them the leader for the National Moral Victory Trophy. USC owns the SEC Moral Victory trophy with 4 Runner-Ups (shirts already in print.)

Funny thing is we actually committed 2 errors tonight, very uncharacteristic of us. Hopefully it's out of our system going into Arky weekend.

The USC vs Citadel game was weird. I agree, the errors were very uncharacteristic, but it was also weird for us to give up so many runs late. Luckily we had the 3 HR's to push us ahead.

We used Wynkoop, Sullivan and Webb, so I don't know if/how much we'll seen any of them this weekend. I would expect us to still use Webb in atleast 1 game this weekend to close.

I saw on GCC that Holbrook is waiting on the MRI from Mont and there's a chance he won't play this weekend or even next weekend against aTm.

Webb only threw 20 pitches so he is available for extensive action this weekend.
