Alabama couldn't make a high school state tournament right now. But we swept Auburn. Somehow.

What RPI does it take to see yourself in the tournament? I live up north and on the radio they were talking about 64 (i.e. number of teams in the tournament). I assume this is wrong and it needs to be in the 40s to account for autobids?

LSU once got left out with an rpi in the 20s.

I imagine the committee looks at OOC/midweek competition. Kentucky got left out having an RPI in the 40s several times.

Not necessarily. Like bbap said, LSU had an RPI of 20-ish in 2011 but was left out. They also missed the SEC Tournament that year. So I think that was part of the knock on that team.
ETA: Meanwhile, you have UCLA who is currently 57th in RPI with a record of 26-23, being talked about by media personnel as being "on the bubble." So who knows wtf the committee will do.

That is an odd season for certain. Vandy and Miss State are both in the twenties RPI wise this season but I don't see either getting left out.

I haven't had a chance to yet. Mom has been wanting to get a dog and I agreed but I said it would be best to get a smaller dog that is housebroken.

I think that is why the SEC went to a 10 team tournament (till expansion). Didn't want to be limited to 8 teams in the NCAA tournament.
