UF fans, why the poor attendance for baseball and basketball? Basketball has won big under Billy and baseball seems to be always good.

EDIT: LSU was behind the following 22 FBS football teams in total attendance--Michigan, Tennessee, Ohio State, Alabama, Penn State, Florida, Texas A&M, Texas, Auburn, Nebraska, Wisconsin, LSU, Georgia, South Carolina, Clemson, Florida State, Southern Cal, Michigan State, Oklahoma, Iowa, Notre Dame, & Oregon.

We were behind ourselves?

Damn you, Alleva!

Yes. LSU baseball trailed LSU football in attendance. I blame Alleva as well.

Ah, that's what you were saying.

Guess I failed at reading comprehension or it wasn't clear enough to me.

Thanks for the clarification.

While total attendance is interdasting, I'd be curious to know what total revenue is for basketball vs. baseball.

I don't think their % capacity is awful (although it's never been great), but their arena is tiny.

By what he listed, which is ranking by total attendance not average, that streak is not that long for LSU. Ark was #1 a few years back, fyi.

Judging from this report, which looks at college basketball revenue for top programs for the 2010-11 season, it looks like most of the top 30 programs are around the $10-20 million range.

From what I've heard about LSU baseball, I think revenue is somewhere around $10 million, or maybe just a tad higher.

That would make LSU baseball roughly equivalent to a Top 25-30 men's college basketball team in terms of ability to generate revenue.

I'm sure its baseball. More fans more revenue. Basketball games have nothing but empty seats, baseball it is tough to spot an empty seat.

Ranked 5th in the SEC in attendance and 27th nationally overall yet Alabama is considered the 10th best coaching job in the league because we apparently don't pay any attention to the basketball team according to the dumb### writer that came up with the ESPN ranking of SEC coaching jobs.

I petition we just do what everyone already thinks and rename the University of Florida to Southern New Jersey College. Not only do they have a large guido population but they have great teams in basketball and baseball and their fans keep showing up in piss poor numbers compared to the rest of the SEC.

I want to see the list LSU fans are reading. It's not even close to 16 years in a row. Arkansas beat out LSU a couple of years ago. Also, it's more accurate to go by attendance average. Not total attendance. Some schools play more home games than others from year to year :herpderp:

We are top 15 in the country in baseball attendance. I don't think there is a big problem there.

Basketball seats under 12K, so averaging between 10 and 11K is not a bad number. Comes out to about 89%. If the arena were larger making more moderately priced tickets available, then the number would be higher. But it may be a while before we get a new gym.

UF baseball attendance should be top 5 in the country if not top 3 is his point.

eta: And basketball should be selling out every single game.

Capacity is only 6,000 so that probably isn't going to happen. You just aren't going to get people driving an hour from the population centers to go to a college baseball game in Florida. People show up for the big games on the weekend, that is about all we can expect. No one is going to drive to watch the midweek games.

Unless someone makes a stadium that has more seats, and even then it would be tough to outdraw LSU.

We have the seats... just not the butts to put in them. Our problem is we only have ~ 5000 chairbacks currently, with a multi-year waiting list to buy season tickets for them. No one wants to purchase season tickets in the incredibly uncomfortable bleachers we have down the lines. They suck to sit in period.

We're early in the process of looking at major renovations to DNF to add chairbacks down both foul lines(possibly even blowing it up and starting over). When we do that(and assuming the product on the field continues to improve), we will end up pushing you in paid attendance... but that's likely still 5ish years away.

We'll never be able to touch you in actual attendance IMO. Not enough nearby population in Starkville to support midweek games on your level...
