Except the article said explicitly that it was not A&M.

Both athletes deny receiving benefits...why do you believe one but not the other? Do you believe that one father was offered $600k and turned it down while another accepted it and managed to hide it from the IRS?

I didn't say who I believed. Cecil Newton admitted that he solicited offers. This father is saying he received offers. There is a difference regardless of if you want to admit it because it doesn't fit your narrative.

Seals-Jones, once a Texas commit who wound up signing with Texas A&M last February, and his family open themselves up to the entire process. The juiciest part is an alleged offer to the Jones family from a "top-20 program" – not A&M – for the following: $300,000 in cash, use of a luxury suite during football season, eight season tickets and $1,000 per month for Ricky and $500 for the family.

Seeing as how it appears his father is the one who let it be known about the others, it sounds more like a ploy for attention or some lame arse recruiting strategy where he lists "a" SEC school and "a" ACC school as being in a bidding war then Sumlin can tell recruits don't go to x "SEC school" or x "acc school", they are under investigation for trying to buy Seals-Jones who did the right hing and played for aggy for free...

I about fell out of my chair reading this. It is absolutely spot on. Frick you whoever hacked DD's account. He has a reputation to uphold and you just fricked him a little...

Personally, if this is true -- which is a long shot -- I wish they would release the names of the people offering to pay the money so I can point and laugh at their stupidity.

600k for a WR is a horrible deal.

Who do you think it was?
Well, let's see: Two of the above have been put on probation recently (LSU in 2011, Mississippi State in 2013), while Auburn received an unwanted colonoscopy from the NCAA during the Cam Newton investigation and then was later investigated for the Jovon Robinson situation...which revealed nothing in both cases. Therefore, I'll go with either LSU or Mississippi State.

Does anyone believe LSU is desperate enough to offer 600K to a TE?

This story is fricking hilarious.

Yup, even though Auburn nor Mississippi State are top 20 programs, historically. LSU is.

Let me stress, though, that I believe this whole story is complete bullshite...

It's naive as frick to think that every program is not somehow paying top players.

These kids are getting under the table benefits. At every major program.

He was all Texas, then it became an Aggie/LSU battle.

He isn't. His future is a TE. This whole story is preposterous.

If anyone paid him, it was aggie.

Again, do you believe LSU would offer 600K to this dude? Please.

LSU and Auburn were the only SEC schools recruiting him, besides aggy, obviously.

Auburn dropped out of the race pretty quick, so that leaves?

This story still reeks of someone stroking their own ego or a lame recruiting tactic.
