Still move Auburn and Missouri.
Auburn in the east could set up:
1. AU plays Bama in the Iron Bowl
2. One week Later AU could play Bama in the SECCG
3. In the play offs, AU and Bama could play again.

The Tenn rivalry is more storied and more important, imo.
not in the last 30 years, probably not... and certainly not since the divisional split in 92.

Fact is nobody else cares about the TTSIO. I like the iron bowl. half the posters on here were too young too remember a good tenn team. Yet their pappy tells them stories of the Bear taking bama into Volunteer territory in the 60s.

over time, inter-divisional games by nature are going to have more riding on them... also the fact that the IB is later in the season than TTSIO.
hell, Bama/LSU games over the last 10 to 15 years have had more riding on them than the last 30 years worth of Bama/UT games.

If anyone truly thinks the TSIO & TDSOR games are going away, they aren't excepting reality. The cross-divisional rivalry games aren't going anywhere, you people damn well know it.
And anyone that thinks that Auburn is moving to the east is high as hell also. And if they ever were to move (which there isn't a snowball chance they will), then the Iron Bowl would be over as well as the TSIO.

it was close to being done for expansion

I don't understand why the roommate switch proposal seems to be getting so little traction. It would be very easy to implement, it would preserve the most important rivalries, it would balance the schedules, and it would allow a full home and away rotation through every opponent in the SEC in only four years while playing only 8 conference games per year.
All this and yet it doesn't even seem to be up for discussion. Instead we go round and round on these silly fixed opponent discussions.

FWIW I don't think it would happen but it is noticeable that Auburn would fit fairly easily in the East. Geographically they make sense (compared to Missouri esp) their rivalry with UGA is a good fit and they used to play very interesting games with Florida.
In a way it is also striking that Florida's rivalry games with Alabama, Auburn, and LSU mean they wouldn't be entirely out of place in the West. Their rivalry with UGA would be important to honor but their games with USC are more interesting to USC than Florida (at least prior to Spurrier) and their rivalry with Tennessee was really just a Fulmer/Manning 90s thing more than a historical rivalry at the level of most other SEC series.

Im just saying that nobody outside of Bama fans care about your rivalry with Tenn.
I didn't say it will go away. Read my post on page one if you want to know what I think.
Damn gumps.

I'm pretty sure Tennessee fans care about it as much as Bama fans. And it doesn't matter id anyone else outside of those two fans bases cares about it, because it is our rivalry.

auburn in the east makes a lot of sense... georgraphically a division of AU/UF/UT/UGA fits well together... but there's not way to put four blue-blood SEC teams in the same division, leaving the SECW to only LSU/Bama.
