If that's what happens the stands will be full of 17 yr olds and women bc they don't care about the quality of the game either way.

If Arky had a cool slick coach who ran the HUNH, I'm assuming y'all would be hurry-up fans. Instead you have a sentient doughnut hole pretending to be a football coach.

why would a team have to run it to keep up?

If the rules committee tells Saban to deal with it or retire then it will eventually be cycled out for awhile. Teams will build defenses to stop it with smaller faster guys and spread the field. As soon as that happens teams will start going back to power running against the small defenses and then teams will start tending that way until the defenses evolve. Its an ever going cycle.

We're coming for him if we have another defensive season like we did in '13. Just FYI

Not saying you have to. Just saying eventually it will be the way to go if you want to win. It looks like any team with a little talent could do it and compete with anyone. So naturally most teams will do it and that's enough to make football not as cool in my eyes.

flashback to 1971:

Texas won almost every game they played in 1969 and 1970.
Royal ran something called the wishbone.

Bama with Bear ran a "pro set" in 1969 and 1970 and went 12-11-1.

Coach Bryant did not run to the rules committee. He learned a new system and dominated for a decade.

Flash forward to 2013. Saban drops a couple games and decides that what needs to happen is for the rules to change. I think any offense can be stopped under the current rules.

So should teams with less talent just line up and run power I up the middle? Most people do what works. I know I don't beat my head against the wall IRL why should a coach not be creative?

You have the most talent. Bama has enough talent to stop any offense.

Amazing how one season changes so many peoples opinion. It is still a gimmick HS offense.

Was FSU HUNH?

I think it will be just the opposite

It's not that you can't beat it. It's just easier to do and be successful for most teams these days.

Chavis already figured it out. And not one rule was changed.

I much prefer non-HUNH football and think that's how it should be played. But I don't favor an actual rule change that IMO stinks of cowardice.

Normally these things are cyclical. Once people have the tape and get the right athletes it will be something new and innovative that will be all the rave. All the while the traditional teams like Bama and UGA are that much harder to play vs because you have to build a team so differently to stop the sheer speed and misdirection of the shotgun triple option.
