I give him at least three or four more years, he learned his lesson about bolting for the NFL, Bama will pay him whatever he wants. Carrol stayed at USC for nine years (I think) after his failed NFL attempt and I think Saban will do the same. He's not a young man anymore and is smart enough to know to get it while the gettin is good.

This is why I think he takes another shot at NFL sooner rather than later.

Bama giving him a statue made sure of this. He knows if he left now they would kill him at the border.

Saban isn't allowed to leave, he will be released at the appropriate time.

He owns this state, he could run for Guvna and win.

So who wins in a race for governor btw Saban and Barkley? Think it would be a tight race.

Pete Carroll went to the Seahawks because he knew that the NCAA was bringing the hammer down on his Trojans. If the NCAA wasn't ringing the bell he would still be there. Saban retires at Bama

No it wouldn't be a tight race, see Artur Davis. Alabama is a long way away from electing a black governor and Obama has probably added another 50 years to that time.

Um, marketing and promotion of one's self? Perhaps to keep his name out there?

Dude?

What the hell else does he have to do to market & promote himself anymore than what he just accomplished a few short months ago?

I love how LSU fans give us weekly updates on Saban's job search.

It's flattering, really.

You'll be better off going back to the political board.

The guy hasn't been in the same place for more than 5 years during his 30 year career. He won't be at Bama much longer.

I don't see him going back to the NFL, though.

What will LSU's reaction be if he doesnt do this and does stay at BAMA for 4-5 more years? Will the reality that they got dumped and that BAMA is not LSU finally sink in.

While I do not think he coaches 10 years at Alabama I do see him staying there another 3/4 which would put him at 8 years and 62 years old. I think he would then retire and head to the AD role at Alabama.

Agreed tducen, I think a 7-8 year term at BAMA is about right. I would love more but the reality in this day and age is that 9/10 is about the max effective tenure at one school any coach can have these days. I understand LSU's hoping that Saban will leave BAMA like he did there. It would make them feel better about themselves if they were not the only ones he did it to. Most people have started to realize though that Saban is content to end his coaching as a god here at BAMA. I do think that Saban wants to live a little life after football which is why he mentions going to the lake as much as he does and will retire at about the age you mentioned.
