"Probably like all coaches, when you say 'Do you take any satisfaction?' I don't take any satisfaction in anything we've done here, because I'm just worried about winning this game," Saban said. "It's a slippery hill from the penthouse to the outhouse when you're in this business. So you don't take satisfaction. That's what causes lapses in games.

"You take satisfaction when the score is 42-17, and then you go out and get your arse kicked in the next series. So you can't take satisfaction. You have to keep on grinding. That's what competitive people do and that's what competitors do and certainly what you have to do in this game."

I'm sure Saban is doing all he can to avoid this kind of thing. He is fighting human nature.

That's what makes him the best. And the crazy thing is, Alabama takes every team's best shot week in and week out.

He's been fighting this since 2009, I'd say he has done a pretty good job.

When Skynet comes online, it should clone Saban. They will win the war easily.

If Bama is reading their own press they will drop a game or two. USC vs Notre Dame circa 2004? USC had maybe 24 players destined for NFL on that team but needed a Bush push to win.

It's Alabama. That sort of stuff is there every single day your entire career.

This is actually the difference between Meyer and Saban right there. Meyer admits he did this in 2008 the second they won the NCG he was on the phone calling recruits. Meyer wasn't able to sustain that way of life for decades. Saban is able to. My dad is able to do that as well (he's an attorney who has averaged billing 3000k hours for probably the last 35 years)

Both are extremely successful, but that way of life didn't work for Meyer

The 2010 season is a glorious teaching tool for him every year.

"You see this team in 2010? You see how they walked on the field and knew they were gonna win before the ball was even snapped? They got their asses beat. 3 times. And not because they werent an amazing football team. It was because they lost focus."

2010 is the catalyst for every year since then. Know what happens when you lose focus? Godamn barners win a natty. frick those guys.

his parents showed him zero affection as a child.

It's a fricking game. It's not that serious. Trust me, even if Alabama lost every game for the next 10 years, the world would keep going.

I kind of agree. But this is why he's the greatest coach of all time and you and I are not
