Saban was born and raised in West Virginia, so he is obviously extremely comfortable being surrounded by toothless rednecks. Probably explains his happiness in Tuscaloosa

Threads like this are the reason why the other threads about his unhappiness are created ad nauseam

Spoke to a member of the REC in June at Flora-Bama. He surprised me and said, "We only have him for one more year."
How would your friend have any clue as to that?
You have no real understanding of what the REC is, apparently. It's not some small group of individuals sitting in a smoke filled room determining how to best pay for the Dodge Chargers and run the program. There are hundreds of members of the REC. There are chapters all over the state with waiting lists to join each chapter (a friend of mine couldn't join our chapter, so he had to join a chapter 1.5 hours away).
That many people involved means that you hear rumblings of things early and you have access to coaches at the meetings when they attend, but you don't know shite like "we only have him for one more year". And if you DO know something that substantial, you do not share that with some jack leg at the Flora-Bama or else your arse won't be in REC for long.

Haven't played a game yet and they're already bitching about the refs.

And they are all equally hilarious.

I agree, but some of yall get mad about the threads

Some of them do, yeah. I don't get upset over sports anymore - too old.
I've come so far that I'm even wearing Cam's clothing line today. Nice looking Flat Khakis - great looking golf shirts.

His actual quote on the subject - taken in full context - makes the whole "miserable" thing seem a bit of a stretch. Also, when you take into account the full scope of his life (family, football, friends, business) it doesn't make sense for him to leave:
"We are happier than ever that we are here from a family standpoint especially," Saban said on his weekly radio show "Hey Coach." "Our children both live in Birmingham, our grandbaby is in Birmingham, we have a business in Birmingham. We have more friends in Alabama than we've ever had at any place we've ever lived."

Funny group.
Don't destroy their hope....its all they have left.

That quote could mean he really hasn't been THAT happy at Alabama. Very embarrassing quote, imo.
For the record, I do not expect Nick Saban to leave Alabama anytime soon.

That's not saying much, is it? I mean, what if they've never been very happy at all at Alabama?
He could say the same thing...
Damn, that is one happy fricker, right there.

Of course he hasn't been that happy. He should have 8 national titles.

I am curious, why doesn't LSU and the other 12 non-Bama teams in the SEC vote to replace Shaw?

These guys in the REC are just like the reporter who implied that he speaks with Saban on a regular basis, and then had to admit that he hadn't even seen Saban in 18 months. They don't know anymore than you and I do, and they're just saying that they do to make themselves seem important. I personally hope that the Sabans like Tuscaloosa, and want to stay, but if they don't that is their personal business and they can go where they feel that they will be happy. I feel that Alabama has done everything in the world that he has asked for, and if that doesn't make him happy, then Nick, I hate to see you go, but life is short, so go where you think you will be happy.

Nice thread. Nothing rustles the rants' jimmies like Saban being content in Tuscaloosa.

That is why this is such b.s. $10MM/ year, plus other business interests and untold perks/ complete and utter control of the program / unlimited resources to run the program / AD and BOT who stays out his way / and a rabid fan base who loves him....
There is literally nothing more he could ask for and get becuase money is no object at Bama....and if some gump fan harps about how we didn't win an NC this year, well it just comes with the turf. Tough shite.
