Coaching up kids and football teams is different than being the commanding officer of an entire branch of young men willing to lay down their life for their country you dumb frick.

Says a fool. How much do they pay Generals? Not nearly as much as an elite College Football Coach. The jobs are similar. The only difference is the military uses lethal force - college football merely uses voilent force. Everything else is exactly like the military especially inspiring and leading young men into battle with a winning plan.
eta - I'm an Alabama alumni bloodline Alabama fan but I'm not a diehard Alabama fan. During Dubose incompetent years and Shulas pathetic years I simply stopped supporting the team. I didn't contribute, attend the games or even watch many of them. Dubose was an idiot. Under Shula, for the first time in my life, I saw Alabama players give up. It made me sick to my stomach.
It takes a genius to maintain the standard Saban has set - the same genius standard Wallace Wade, Frank Thomas, and Bear Bryant built and proliferated that is Alabama.
Dabo can't do any of that. His heart is there but he's not smart enough.

genro, you're an intelligent poster, and it's not an unknown fact that nobody likes to follow in the footsteps of someone like Nick Saban.
No matter the sport, it's a tall task to find someone willing to take the risk and possibility of being seen in lesser light than his predecessor.

The only reason you hate him is because he spurned you. Before he spurned Tennessee he had the Vols on the verge of greatness.

We would have been destroyed with sanctions. At the end of the day, USC was his dream job and he took it. I don't miss him one bit, and seeing as we're doing just fine right now with our current players and staff, I don't have much reason to.

Kiffin, because I wanna see Alabama turn into Tennessee.

Neither Urban is coming down when that happens.

Dabo- this is his first HC job and he's killing it. He's doing a lot better than Saban did at Mich St And a helluva lot better than Kiffin did.

Dabo has done a nice job of surrounding himself with great assistants. Hell, even Watson is a product of Chad Morris being on the staff.
If Kiffin were to have a better grasp of running the program (huge if) and surround himself with a defensive coordinator and staff that is top notch, I see no reason why he couldn't be successful.
This is only if the move were to come in the next few years. Another season like the first two and Kiffin will be a head coach after next year.

This thread is a thing of delusional beauty. Even though it was probably completely unintentional, well done.

Hiring/firing and managing assistants is one of the biggest parts of being a HC. Dabo has done a great job of that. I love how he got rid of Kevin Steele after WVa scored 70 on them in the Orange Bowl. Dabo took it to us with everything he had and it took the genius from the greatest coach in history to win the NC game. I love Dabo. And Dabo lovesaid Bama. He will be our next coach.
