Kiffin in a heartbeat and a big fat NEVER to Dabo. Dabo clearly isn't a Champion. If he were he'd have already won a Championship at Clemson. Kiffin showed more coaching chops in his one year at Tennessee than Dabo ever has. Without DW Clemson is hot garbage - Dabo is OK but OK is far far far below Alabama standards.

Dabo has had 7 years - plenty of time to put his own personal stamp on Clemson and it isn't good enough to contend for National Titles regularly.

Clemson loses their top 4 defensive playmakers. I'm calling it now: Auburn upsets Clemson.

Lane Kiffin is 35-21 as a college football head coach.

3 Years of those stats were at USC under severe NCAA sanctions.

Dabo is 46-8 in the last 4 years.

And what coaches do contend for national championships regularly besides Nick Saban and Urban Meyer?

Who has accomplished more in the last 4 seasons besides Saban, Meyer, and Fisher? David Shaw and Mark Dantonio maybe?

Either way, Dabo is a top 10 coach in the nation.

Bama likely has to settle for an ok hire for a few years. No one wants to be the guy that follows Saban.

Dabo isn't elite. He's a blue collar coach - he's not a genius or even in the top tier. He doesn't have the gravitas or gray matter to reach that level. Clemson is at it's peak and without a DW they're just another over-rated ACC team.

That's almost as silly as the OP.

Saban retires today. Probably Dantonio. Second pick would be Jimbo. Third David Shaw. Surely one would want the job.

A few years from now Dantonio he's off my list due to age starting a 5 year contract. 60-61 is about my cutoff to still believe you have a guy for 4-6 years.

Let's put it this way: I don't TRUST Kiffin yet. He's revealing that he's a good OC, but that doesn't mean he has the chops to be a head coach. Perhaps whenever Saban retires, I'll feel differently, but he's a work in progress as of now. I feel similarly about Dabo. I think he's done a great job in terms of head coaching at Clemson, though. So, from that standpoint, he has the edge over Kiffin in HC ability, but I still don't know if I'd want him to replace Saban. I don't even want to think about replacing Saban, and this is like the 2348723rd post I've seen where I've had to face this decision in which I honestly won't even be making anyway.

Dabo is silly. His mannerisms, body language, and temperment are almost juvenile. He's not a serious intellectual coach. He's had the benefit of some great coordinators and good recruiting but he's not an elite coach capable of building, leading, and maintaining a Champion.

If Dabo were in the military do you think he would ever become a General? N E V E R. He's closer to Gomer Pyle than a General. Great coaches are similar to Generals - they possess the same skills. Dabo ain't that.

Lots of polls on other boards asking if Dabo is the right guy to lead Bama after Saban. The consensus in every poll is clear. The answer is NO!

Now we're comparing college football coaches to Generals.

I hate Dabo as much as the next guy, but he's doing something right. Can't argue that. Clemson was good to be patient with him.

Yes we are. Like General Robert Neyland who reached the rank of Brigadier General in less than 5 years during WW II. He was a tactical genius - most GREAT coaches are the same. Dabo ain't that.
