I dont understand.

Saban has clearly had better teams therefore more likely to beat those teams.....

Saban and Bama have done a much better job of positioning recruiting ins such a way that year to year, there is very little drop-off.

Granted, it is all a coaching stat, but the teams were very much different.

Even at that, Urban was only 3-3 against Les. People are still hung up on LSU's record against TOBC which was an atrocious 1-11. The Tigers lead the Gators excluding the Spurrier era, 26-20-3. Spurrier ain't coming back folks and neither is Curly Hallman. LSU has been a better program than Florida in recent years and that won't change anytime soon.

If we just take out their best years and our worst years, this series record will look really good!

The series record doesn't look bad either way. So......

That's not the actual stat - the actual stat is worse. Alabama has faced 25 teams off a bye week since 2007 where Alabama did not also have a bye.

In contrast Alabama has faced 4 teams since 2007 where Alabama had a bye and the other team did not have a bye.

You can't exclude the Spurrier years. They really did happen.

In fairness, I saw the same stat flash across on ESPN that Capstone did. He was just passing along what they put on the screen.

Not really sure what the Spurrier years or 26-20-3 has to do with Saban's and Miles' tenures at Bama and LSU, respectively.

"ESPN did say no else comes close to matching Saban as regards to wins vs top 10 teams"

Sure they did.... Saban is ESPNs booger sugar. They can't get by without it.

Actually, playing Bama bolsters LSU's number of top 10 opponents.

Playing LSU drops bama's avg.

Bama 6-0 under Saban when travelling 500+ miles for game.

I saw that one on ESPN too but I thought it was such an oddball stat.

I'm wondering who those six games are against. Obviously 2013 against A&M.

ETA: They played in Dallas to start a year as well so that's probably another.

Sounds like someone is giving Bama an unfair advantage... it's obvious that teams coming off a bye week are vulnerable.

Since 2005, no team has made more appearances in the AP poll than LSU -- with an average rank of 8.3.

How exactly are we dropping your average?

LINK

ETA: Other than Bama, no other team in the SEC has a higher average rank than LSU. Unless Bama were to play themselves, it would be difficult to raise their average.

One could argue LSU is overrated I suppose but ratings are what they are.

Pasadena
Dallasx2
Miami
Orlando

Plus the one you named probably. It was weird stat, they are running that kind of stuff today.

Rose Bowl - Texas
Orange Bowl - ND
@Mizzou

ETA: Actually Missouri is probably closer than 500 miles as the crow flies so that's probably not one.

He's talking about the average during the Saban years of 2007 - present. Your average is a very impressive 8.5, but there have been 3 games when you were not in the top 10 when playing Bama. Conversely, Bama has been in the top 10 in every year since 2008 at time of LSU game with the lowest Bama team being ranked #6.

I understand.

But it's not like any other conference teams on Bama's schedule have been picking up our slack during that timeframe.

Auburn is extremely bipolar. Tennessee has been... there are no words.

Wow. Miles has played 30 games against top 10. That's crazy.

8-11 for Saban and 10-16 for Miles against teams that finished in the top 10.
