I meant an emotional connection. Like you said, they form connections for personal gain which is why narcissism is a trait of sociopaths.

If you guys have seen that movie Fox Catcher, Steve Carrell's character is like a textbook sociopath. Or Jake Gyllenhall's character in Nightcrawler. Sociopaths are dangerous. Psychopaths are as well, but not necessarily.
It's really pretty dicey trying to distinguish the two, and the only real difference may be the person's intelligence.

I think this Antisocial Personality Disorder thing is sorta like Autism in the sense that there is probably a "spectrum", if you will.
Either one, sociopath, psychopath, has the same basic dysfunction, but the severity determines the extremity of their behavior. The severity can depend on a number of factors ranging from affluence to base intelligence.
Like, a psychopath is just as dangerous as a sociopath POTENTIALLY, but may lack the cleverness to avoid going to jail acting like a prick, and therefore, may just be a really weird dude, but never do anything wrong. But if the person is just clever enough to cover up their crimes, they become a predatory sociopath and gravitate towards careers in venture capitalism or politics.
