re: Saban: I have underachieved as a head coach, I should have eight national titles

Oh no question. Just as an example: When he was at LSU he would often go into a shell in the 4th quarter with a lead, even a small one. You could see the run up the middle-run up the middle-safe pass-punt coming a mile away. We lost several games because of it. Saw him do that in 2007 at Bama as well but somewhere in 2008 or 2009 he started moving away from it and by 2011 he had figured out it was an overall losing strategy.

Saban's personality wont allow him to enjoy the success as much as it makes him focus on the failure. Anytime you are in the hunt for the trophy going into November you have done well, sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesnt. He was fortunate to get in the game a couple of times, just as some seasons such as 2010 they had as good a team as he ever had and lost 3 games. The type A personality that makes him miserable at times is what makes him highly successful. He is a beter coach than Meyer or Malzahn will ever be, much better at being the CEO of a program and managing every last detail. No one can win them all.

Jesus can you not fricking read.
You asked didn't the loss to SC take us out of the running.
I told you no because IF we would have won out we still could of got in. The lost to LSU is what actually took us out of the running.
We lost 3 games that year so obviously we weren't close to winning it.

It's not all about talent and coaching. A lot of it is attitude and motivation.. It's very difficult to win back to back titles because of that, as Ohio State will find out this year. Bama won 3 of 4 national titles. They were bound to have a letdown. I expect they'll be hungry again this year.

The South Carolina loss in 2010 was irrelevant. The LSU game was back and forth til the end, could have went either way. I agree that was the game that ended it for them that year. I dont see how Bama lost 3 games that year.

A 1 loss SEC Champ, defending National Champ, and preseason #1 would of got in over a undefeated Mountain West team...

I didn't ask you that, so we're both poor readers.
But you're right and I agree that Alabama was still in the hunt until the LSU game.

Funny rumor about that. It was said that after the Cap One Bowl a Sparty player walked up to Saban and said, "Man, how did you guys lose 3 games?" Saban replied, "How did you guys win 11?"

Which is what you would've been in 2010 had you managed to beat LSU.

TCU was getting first place votes prior to your loss to LSU. You would have been left out

He is a good coach but he sucks as a human. He really does.

Never go full Gump Saban.

TCU had one first place vote in the week 15 poll. Yea that would of kept us out.

He should be glad to have the three. Take away the two Mulligans and he would be considered the biggest choker since Bob Stoops.

Because the other two teams got the rest, you would have been left out. I know this is a hard topic for you. Do you guys count the losses as wins since you beat yourself?
