Chip Kelly may not last the season in Philly
Rumor is Kelly to Bama as offen coord and AJ McCarron to the bench.

I thought the reason was bec HUNH offense cause injuries.

"Alabama Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban hasn't been a fan of the hurry-up, no-huddle offense, but that doesn't mean he won't eventually give it a try.

"It's something we're going to look at. I think we'll have to," Saban told ESPN.com on Thursday. "I think we need to play faster and will have to do more of that going forward. The only reason we haven't done more of it to this point is that our guys seem to play better when we don't [go fast] just because it's been our style and we've had reasonably good success moving the ball and running the ball."

But what about his number 1 concern with these up-tempo O's? Safety.

Saban is smart enough to realize the direction football is moving

Chip Kelly's impending failure and the way read-option QB's are struggling in the league will cause these systems to go the way of the Wildcat/Wildhog offense.

Won't matter how fast or slow on Nov 9 when LSU walks out a winner.

Saban ran up temp again Auburn and UGA last year. There is a difference between HUNH and Read Option offense.

Why not? Miles did it against Oregon in Dallas. I thought that was pretty badass. It confused the shite out of them. I hate that they made this public. Saban should have kept this close to the vest.

I think this article hits on what I like least about the HUNH: it takes a lot of the "chess match between coaches" feel away from the game. Football has always been different and interesting to me because the coaches can affect the game in real time so much more than in other sports, and the HUNH makes it more like basketball or soccer in that way.

exactly. The Saban quotes about safety had been blow out of proportion, it has always been more for about the strategic possibilities on both offense AND defense. I hate watching Pac-10 basketball on grass which is a bunch of small guys essentially playing a soft version of Rugby. When that's what college football turns completely into, I will just stop watching.

All he said was if it becomes necessary to win to run an up tempo he'd do it, because he'd have to.

Which is just common sense.

Hopefully it doesn't become necessary.
