How many Championships did this wrecking crew win? I'll hang up and listen.....

5 or 6 conference championships. I guess those don't always translate into MNCs though do they?

Probably just had problems crossing that pesky 50 yard line.

I know 1939 was a long time ago............but 59-0 happened this year pal. Oh and 0 for 4 and all that stuf.

I worry about this place sometimes, but then think about the fact that most people around here don't known much about things outside the SEC world.

A&M back during the Wrecking Crew was basically how LSU is now. Incredible defense with an incredibly shitty offense. We couldn't score for shite and had zero creativity on offense, but we could shut anyone in the country down.

If we had just a decent to good offense, we would have won some national championships. As it is, we always shite the bed in big games because we couldn't do anything on offense and no one can win when the defense is on the field 75% of the time.

2011 Alabama Crimson Tide
Rushing Defense: 72.2 ypg (1st)
Passing Defense: 111.5 ypg (1st)
Total Defense: 183.6 ypg (1st)
Scoring Defense: 8.2 ppg (1st)

2001 Miami Hurricanes
Rushing Defense: 132.7 ypg (40th)
Passing Defense: 138.2 ypg (2nd)
Total Defense: 270.9 ypg (6th)
Scoring Defense: 9.4 ppg (1st)

2009 Alabama Crimson Tide
Rushing Defense: 78.1 ypg (2nd)
Passing Defense: 166.0 ypg (10th)
Total Defense: 244.1 ypg (2nd)
Scoring Defense: 11.7 ppg (2nd)

2011 LSU Tigers
Rushing Defense: 90.1 ypg (5th)
Passing Defense: 171.4 ypg (8th)
Total Defense: 261.5 ypg (2nd)
Scoring Defense: 11.3 ppg (2nd)

Keep in mind Miami played in the Big East in 2001 and their schedule was complete dog shite. BAMA's defensive stats from 2011 will probably never be repeated. The better question is what would have the stats looked like if the same BAMA defensive unit from 2011 played against a Big East schedule

Lets just go ahead and end this thread...

God that Miami team was so overrated. They beat the shite out of nobodies and beat a Nebraska team that didn't even deserve to be there.

Congrats on beating a 2-9 LSU team 25 years ago. Texas A&M hangs the banner.

LSU beat down the Aggies best team of their last 50 years on their home field. LSU yawns......We have better things to brag about.

Best post I've read on here in quite a while. FINALLY someone sees the light of how having the most talent doesnt equate to being the best ever. Miami shouldve played Oregon that year, not nebraska

No one was bragging.
The premise of this thread--started by a Bama fan--was a simple comparison of our defensive squads from the 80s and 90s to Saban's more recent kids.
It was never about LSU, nor was it an "A&M owned LSU, prior to the recent revival of the series" post.
You, however, jumped into the thread and acted the fool.
No clue why your anti-A&M schtick is so in-your-face, but lower your hackles and relax a little, guy.

I love to make fun of saban and bama as much as the next guy, but he has truly put some talented D’s on the feild. Probably some of the best I've seen.

None.
And it's a bum deal that will never go away.

Year AP/Coaches
1991 12/13
1992 7/6
1993 9/8
1994 8/--

During that stretch, the Ags became the first SWC school to post three consecutive perfect conference seasons and actually went four consecutive seasons without a conference loss (we had a tie); but bowl sanctions kept us from finding out what those undefeated teams could've accomplished during the postseason.
