I love coach Miles. I like his personality and I love his old School philosophy on winning football games.

You can win with a Bobby Knight type or a Dean Smith type. A Nick Saban type or a Les Miles type. Both types are highly successful. I'd choose to play/work for a Dean Smith/Les Miles type any time. Life is too short to have to walk around scared all the time.I'd much prefer to laugh & speak as I please.

I have a few friends who have played for Saban. They value the work ethic and drive that it forced them to acquire, but they were miserable more often than not.
A bad place to be, but a great place to be from.

I would say Miles fits the culture of almost every team in the country. I can't think of a single place where he would not fit in and be well liked. Well, he probably isn't slimy enough to work at Ole Miss.

The storm which went thru T-town taught him a Big lifes lession. There was a marked change in his attitude. He is still driven, but I think he stops to smell the roses every now and then.

I know its LSU week, but I find it hard to say anything negative about coach Les Miles. He seems to be a genuinely great man and coach.

I, too, have a friend who has worked with both his entire time at LSU, which covers both coach's years here. Still talks to Saban almost weekly.
Not gonna share any stories though. Lol. Many of them are along the lines of yours.
Another friend worked on Saban's staff at Bama in QC. The only time Saban spoke to him was at the urinal one day over two years time. Lol

It was Les. Miles drove a lincoln towncar then and it had tons of pictures his kids had colored for him scattered in the backseat. The drive was about 15 minutes and Les talked about my buddy's family, his own family, everything except football.

Saban has always and still is very clumsy in the public unless he is in control. When he is mingling he tends to be quiet and unassuming. Not a small talk kind of person.

yeah, which is probably why he hates answering questions from the media. he is not in complete control of the questions he's asked, and if he doesn't feel comfortable responding, he goes into attack mode. however, him being that way as a person is also one of the big reasons he's been as successful as he has as a coach
