Yeah I wish Bama wouldn't schedule FCS opponents, unless they were one of the top FCS schools like Sam Houston State or North Dakota State. Even then, I'd much prefer a BCS school.

Beating the brakes off Chattanooga or a 1st year Sunbelt school doesn't do anything for me.

I agree with Saban. Especially about playing 9 SEC games.

I agree with Saben. We need to play 9 SEC games and we don't need to play FCS schools. We also don't need to be playing mid-majors.

If a conference is going to participate in the playoff, they should have a championship game. That way the game serves as a play in. Expand the playoff to 6 teams and give the first two seeds a bye.

the future 4 team playoff is going to be weighted based on strength of schedule. It is a must that all SEC teams and for that matter all BCS programs improve their SOS. You jelly and the butthurt is flowing through you,

I think it would be a nice rule that all the BCS teams have to schedule at least 10 BCS opponents (not including conference championship games and bowl games obviously)

That would be a good number of good opponents, would allow some lower tier schools to sponge off the big boys for revenue to stay afloat, and would get the lower tier BCS programs bowl eligible.

The real embarrassment is when you see programs with four terrible filler games, 1-2 is fine (not counting your KY and MSU level teams as filler)

He also said he wants teams in Division I to play teams ONLY found in Division I.

So Furman GA State are still fine?
I will agree with 9 game conference schedule, ONLY if the whole division has 4 or 5 home games. I prefer 10 games, but making all of one division have the same number of home and away is ok.
obviously the East would have issues with the Cocktail Party.

Well, what he's saying is right but nothing that hasn't been said a million times before.

Realistically, the power 5 conferences belong in their own division, that's about 60-70 teams.

I've said that for years.

The SEC just needs to step it up and adopt their policy of no FCS opponents. Let the other conferences do that if they want to.

That would greatly increase respect for the SEC.

There are plenty of tomato can opponents in the real conferences, you shouldn't be afraid of Duke, Iowa State, and Indiana.

Those who want only 8 game schedule = those who are wimps afraid to play real games.

(and for Florida ,uga, sc, and ky fans, we all need to guarantee a quality ooc whether traditional or short term arrangements)

Saban ignores some basic economic realities. In order to fund these expensive programs we need to have 7 and prefer to have 8 home games every year. If your entire schedule consists of teams from BCS conferences, then you will end up with only 6 homes games. Furthermore, a 9-game conference schedule means that every other year you will automatically have 5 away games (meaning all the other games have to be home games, and that can't always be done).

If you reduce it to 70 teams and also not allow games against lower ranked teams you could have difficulty competing a schedule. You could have some teams every year that can only schedule 11 games because there are no teams available to play based on open dates, etc. you would need a system similar to the NFL which sets up games for there teams.

I agree on a 9 game SEC schedule.

It sucks that there is just too much greed involved in the game now to cut down on teams and make Bowl qualifications stricter. We could do four 16-team conferences to have 64 teams - plenty for a grand amount of diversity. Then they could make Bowl qualifications be 8-4 or better and we would only see good teams and interesting matchups in the post-season.

"Western" Conference:

1. Washington
2. Oregon
3. Oregon State
4. Wyoming
5. Colorado
6. Utah
7. BYU
8. Air Force

9. California
10. USC
11. Stanford
12. Fresno State
13. UCLA
14. Arizona
15. Arizona State
16. UNLV

"Northern" Conference:

1. Nebraska
2. Kansas
3. Minnesota
4. Iowa
5. Wisconsin
6. Illinois
7. Indiana
8. Notre Dame

9. Purdue
10. Michigan
11. Michigan State
12. Ohio State
13. Cincinnati
14. Penn State
15. Pittsburgh
16. Syracuse

"Southern" Conference:

1. Texas
2. Texas A&M
3. SMU
4. TCU
5. Rice
6. Oklahoma
7. Oklahoma State
8. Arkansas

9. LSU
10. Ole Miss
11. Alabama
12. Auburn
13. Missouri
14. Kentucky
15. Louisville
16. Tennessee

"Eastern" Conference:

1. Georgia
2. Georgia Tech
3. Florida
4. Florida State
5. Miami
6. South Carolina
7. Clemson
8. Wake Forest

9. North Carolina
10. North Carolina State
11. Maryland
12. Navy
13. Army
14. Rutgers
15. Connecticut
16. Duke

Every one of those teams have won a NC in either football, basketball, or baseball with the exception of Air Force.

There are entirely too many teams in Division I and that is a huge part of the scheduling problem and a lot of these schools are sucking the financial teet of the bigger Universities.
