Coaches meeting

Saban: So guys, I don't want anyone to get mad, but I would like the offense to open up a little more

Nuss: Go frick yourself Saban

Saban: Oh, okay. Sorry for asking.

I believe Saban. At LSU, the offense was pretty wide open with Rohan Davey at QB. And, he's always been pretty aggressive offensively especially in big games.

And I think this goes back to what I said earlier. Nick Saban wants a good offense when he doesn't completely trust the defense. He did not have the players to run his system yet at LSU in 2001.

Why is it that the UF game defines his abilities and West Virginia (or any of the other games for that matter) are irrelevant?

He had a great game. I'm not crowning him champion of shite after a single game.

He might want to let this play out for more than 4 fricking games before telling people to eat crow.

Although I do see his point.

I'm not either, but we all saw what is possible. You also have to think that this team is progressing... both offensively and defensively.

Agreed. But you can understand my hesitation since Saban offense hasn't been something to brag about in years. And we literally just saw LSU with Cam and how he was going to revolutionize their offense last year - in my opinion that has been a miserable failure.

Bottom line is I'm skeptical when traditionally defensive teams act like they're going to somehow modify their approach and put up big numbers on offense. They are who they are and they are all about ball control and managing the game.

Edit: and we also saw what was possible in his other 3 games too. He's inconsistent and that should be very concerning in Sabans system.

Alabama won those games too....why are you comparing the 1st and 4th games of the season? Teams get better....deal with it.

I hope you just haven't been paying attention. He's been the opposite of inconsistent.

Consistent at 1 thing is somehow "consistent" as a passer? He has an unreal completion % until you actually watch the passes he completes.

This is what makes coaches like Saban so brutal to play against. He is the Bill Belichick of the college ranks in that he can win in every way and will adapt his coaching style to whatever talent he has. I hope Sumlin can reach that level, but there is a reason why Saban is a master at what he does whereas other coaches never change their style and fall behind the curve.

The last time Bama played a team worth a damn, they lost. They've just beaten a team that was 4-8 last year, and shows no signs of being any different this year.

Yet somehow, they have become the best team ever. Forgive me if i'm not convinced....

I believe the media was asking him how much he faps to the offense of Lane Kiffin. Saban was simply saying that they (meaning the media) was raking him over the coals when he hired him and that they need to be held accountable for their flip-flopping just as much as the rest of us are.

Sims has not been consistent? He's thrown for 1,100 yards and 8 scores along with 150 on the ground and 2 more scores while splitting reps for 2+ games. Almost 75% completion and the mantra of he can't throw deep was destroyed against Florida as he did it time and time again. And as bad as people want to say florida is, their defense is a hell of a lot better than any defense Kenny trill has faced so far. So do you want to use the same level of skepticism on your own qb only four games in?
