This is a situation set up to degrade a fan base by making them run across a football field to worship their god. And they still do it. Do it with joy.

There has to be some reason.
Maybe there are multiple charities that operate within the fan day event and allow sick children to meet their heroes?
I mean, there must be some legitimate reason the University continues to have this as an event.

It is for scientific purposes. An annual round up of all the crazies so the REC can weigh, measure, and tag them before releasing them back in the wild.

Don't you know the coaches and players hate this event.
We have something similar at Ole Miss, "Meet the Rebels," but it's indoors at the IPF and all of our fans graduated from Ole Miss, don't sprint when we don't have to, and dress appropriately at all times so there's really nothing to be embarrassed about.
