Ole Miss and MSU both got screwed by the Ayers case. Basically you'll admit anybody now (not your fault), so you're naturally viewed as a bunch of dummies.
To me that's a completely separate issue from the flag. That damn thing needs to go, and for me it has nothing to do with racism.

Really? For all of four fricking years? The other 235 years under Old Glory are meaningless somehow?
That is some stupid shite, right there - and yes, my G.G.Grandfather was an officer in the 7th Louisiana Cavalry.
My family has been in south Louisiana since 1770, I'm not going to let 4 years in the mid-nineteenth century overshadow everything else.

Ole Miss can't afford to lower their admission standards. Mississippi is one of the smallest and most illiterate states in the country.
Per the Ayers decision, every public university in Mississippi has the same admission standards.

Students and fans aren't the problem. It's the KKK outsiders doing that. I haven't seen a confederate flag on Ole Miss's campus in over 15 years (except for those KKK freaks who show up uninvited on occasion). I did see several on pick up trucks when I was in Oregon this summer--I kid you not. There is the first amendment to think about though I guess.

MS is not the only state affected here. Virtually anyone in the top 10 percentile of their class can get in to all in-state public universities in Texas. This happened around 2007. Older people from would tell you they got into Yale before they got into UT or TAMU. This is not the case anymore. UT now has to lower it's quality education or increase its tuition.

I guess you kind of have to squint to see it in their State flag:
You may call him an over-sensitive pussy, but if a 5* black football player didn't want to play under that flag, I wouldn't blame him for going somewhere else.

I fly them both, thank you. But I didn't know this was a conversation about the U.S. Flag, or I might have mentioned that.
Btw, your vagina is showing. Looks a little sandy.

what's the problem? They have as much right to peaceably assemble as you do. It's like in the constitution or something.
... because liberals only like the 1st Amendment when it applies to them. Everyone else is not allowed free speech, freedom of assembly, etc.
That's okay - the left will go too far one day.

All three of the Mississippi university towns (Oxford, Starkville and Hattiesburg (USM)) have stopped flying the state flag until it is changed.

That's just a lie. You can find confederate flags on any campus in the south

Then they should have state funding cut-off until they fly the state flag again ... and I hate to say this, but if true, Ole Miss should no longer be referred to as the flagship university of Mississippi.

Coming from a family descended from those who fought, and were horribly wounded in, the Civil War, I support all versions of the Confederate flag and associated battle flags. Not because I'm racist, but because it is the flag that my family flew.
So let's say they were Germans and marched for Hitler. Would you hang up a Nazi flag all over the place?
And please stop the "loyal to ancestors" you not only haven't met, but you also haven't met anyone who has met them.

Your 16 ACT is showing.
If you can't understand that the Confederate flag hurts Mississippi's football fortunes, you may not have even scored that high.

I'm not sure about this, but I think Ole Miss, USM, and MSU are all considered flagship universities. The idea that Ole Miss is somehow the exclusive flagship of the state is incorrect.

It is THE University of Mississippi. It is the flagship. In other words, it was the first planned, in-state public university.
There can only be one first, bro.
If you ain't first, you ain't the flagship.

The city or Hattiesburg was the first to protest and stop flying the state flag. Oxford and Starkville began considering, but I don't think anything has come of it. Just people talking.
