RC Slocum was 78-28-2 in the Big 12. So I guess the question should be why did y'all ever fire him?
No. Not even close. For starters, ties went away after the 1994 season.
1996: 4-4
1997: 6-2
1998: 7-1 (Dat Nguyen's senior class)
1999: 5-3
2000: 5-3
2001: 4-4
2002: 3-5
Slocum went 34-22 in the Big 12, 17-15 with both Mack Brown and Bob Stoops coaching at Texas and Oklahoma respectively

Sumlin has 36 wins since joining the SEC
Les only has 37 in that time period with better recruiting classes.

How many wins does Sumlin have over Les?

yet, you don't see LSU fans defending Les Miles for his performance. And Les is 20-12 in the SEC over that same time span

So basically what you're saying is the bar that has been set historically for A&M is to hover around .500 in conference play. I apologize for giving RC Slocum too much credit.

Slocum was a mediocre coach who happened to coach at a time in which Oklahoma, Texas, LSU, and Arkansas were all down at the same time.
He would feast in SWC play then shite the bed on the national stage in a bowl. (2-9 bowl record speaks for itself)
The ONLY time a Slocum-coached team overachieved was the 1990 Holiday Bowl.

maybe A&M is just a mediocre program and always has been If no one has won there consistently, then maybe Sumlin is doing what should be expected of him

So basically Florida before Spurrier and LSU before Saban.

None of us are defending him. Sumlin will probably win 8-9 games and get fired.
Less will win 8-9 and still be there for another year.

I'll bet you actual money that LSU wins more than 8 games

Sumlin has won 8 games each of the last two years and he still has his job

Charlie McClendon went 137-59-7 (60-41-1 in the SEC) at LSU. He was followed by Bill Arnsparger who went 26-8-2 (13-3-2 in the SEC). He was preceded by Paul Dietzel who went 46-24-3 (26-16-2 in the SEC). But yeah, sure

Other than the first "maybe" your statement this is 100% spot on. It really makes them angy, thruth can be hard to take.

you might want to look into that a little more
LSU was a top 15 program upon Saban's arrival, statistically speaking. I've no idea where TAMU ranks all time, though.

He doesn't have to. I already did, and it's spot on.
Actually, both LSU and Florida did even less than A&M before Spurrier and Saban. So, if we get our Saban, look out.
