This seems like an extremely stupid idea. Making up to 75% of your signees coming from instate is something that only a handful of programs could do and a Mississippi school isn't one of them.
Mississippi has good enough athletes and talent to sign this many every year.

You're right. If there was only one Mississippi school it would be a different story

Exactly. MSU isn't signing the top 15 and never will sign all of the top 15 because they are competing against another instate SEC school as well as Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Tennessee etc. That would be an ok idea if you were in Texas but player #35 in the state of MS isn't going to be that catalyst that brings home the title for you.

I like kidding around with the state fans here, but you're exactly right.

On a serious note, mullen is trying to recruit Mississippi hard right now to make state look like Mississippis school. State just doesn't have the brand to land many OOS prospects right now. But if mullen ever starts landing the big in-state prospects and starts building a consistent program then I'm sure he'll start venturing OOS more.

Wrong wrong wrong. This Isn't some grand theory or plan. No one outside of MS wants to go to MSU. Players, students, etc. Mullen is smart saying that he wants to recruit MS players because that's all he can recruit.
And rebelwriter, you couldn't figure out why more people from the poorest, fatest, etc state would want to go to the ag school instead of the pretinous elitist school?

The only thing holding us back from OOS recruiting is our billboard budget.
Cuz EERY STATE IS OUR STATE.

True. Many Ole Miss fans are in debt trying to keep up with the Joneses. In fact I know of a failing dentist in your hometown who bought his daughter a lexus (by far the nicest car in the family) before she headed of to Oxford. This is actually a huge pet peeve of mine around here. I will say there is a good deal of money here but it is usually the kids you would not expect.
I think I know who you are talking about.
People at State are the same way. I know a girl who's dad down sized their home so his daughter could get a fancy brand new car and live in the nicest townhouses in Starkville.

Ole Miss pulls in a lot more out of state students than MSU does in both sports and general student body
I have had friends from school tell me that if they had gone to starkville it would have been like entering 13th grade. They make it sound like 95% of their graduating class went to MSU

I lol'd twice. First, at the content (kudos). Second at the ironic misspelling (sad face).

Because no one outside of Mississippi is poor/dumb enough to go to school in that festering wasteland of poverty, ignorance, and smelly air.

I came from way out of state, and never considered State. I applied to OM Bama and UF.
Putting up billboards, while sometimes mildly witty, are always a little brother thing to do.

Mississippi doesn't have to support 3 D1 programs, it has to support one. What's wrong with him wanting to sign 15 Ms kids a year. I thought that was the norm.
Posted on 6/20/11 at 6:31 pm to dextermccluskey
Your exactly right, I know students at OM that are not well off financially at all, but their parents are in deep debt so their kid can fit in with the crowd because OM has this aristocratic view of themselves.
In all reality, MSU has many wealthy families, along with it's fair share of poor ones, but at MSU most people don't flaunt around acting like they are rich, and a lot of rich kids at MSU don't really show it, so poorer kids don't feel the need to fit in that way.
I know alot of people stereotype MSU because it is an ag school, but i personally know alot of farmers that own thousands of acres of land and are millionaires, and probably bring in more money yearly than some doctors or lawyers. And if you think someone with an engineering degree is poor, well think again. Go work for NASA and see what you get paid due to that engineering degree.

If South Carolina can do it, why not State?

Old jokes are old.
I'm assuming a few of you went to Ole Miss, yet none of you are clever enough to come up with something besides old, recycled stereotypes?
I don't care though. I'm from OOS, went to MSU and I'm wicked smart and rich.
