Obviously never been to a game in the Rose Bowl

It has amazing views and looks beautiful on TV but that’s it.

When I lived near Pasadena we went to a few UCLA games and I went when LSU played a couple years ago. Always came away disappointed in the actual game day experience.

Play the games in warm weather venues. Domes are just horrific IMO. Leave that s*** for the NFL.

I think they should play in a different city each year in a domed stadium. This event will bring in a lot of money to a local economy so share the wealth. Screw a view and pageantry.

Indianapolis was like -4 F You had to bundle up. And then when you got in there it was like like 70 that hit u in the face. And then you gotta take jacket off right away. Need to work for their mechanical contractors.

Yeah, he also picked Iowa to beat Tennessee. Hard no to the Rose Bowl as the CFP title game venue every year.

Old stadiums like this are not designed for fans. This is why no one builds them this way anymore. Giant bowls where half of the fans are 100 yards from the field. Modern stacked decks puts everyone closer (if a bit vertical).

What? Why wouldn’t you just trade them for sugar bowl tickets or sell them and buy sugar bowl tickets?

Herbstreit is a product of that snotty Big Ten/Pac 12 Rose Bowl tie-in that prevented decades of other teams from playing there.

He's a Buckeye through and through. So, yeah, the Rose Bowl was the first post-season event. But there really are much more modern venues now, and rotating gives different areas of the country some of the revenue and exposure.

Even as a Texan, I can support this. The Rose Bowl may be old and a little shabby these days, but it's one of a small handful of stadiums that is actually a BOWL. I would say rotate between the Rose Bowl and Cotton Bowl (the real one, not the Deathstar) but the weather in Dallas in January is rolling the dice. Could be beautiful blue skies and 65f or cold as shite with sleet/snow.

Nope. Can't leave the Sugar Bowl and New Orleans out.

If you guys had a beautiful old open air stadium I would support this..but just like Dallas, the weather in Southern Louisiana can be a bit dicey in January. At least at the Rose Bowl the risk of cold rain is very low this time of year. Nobody wants to pay $1k+ to sit out in rain/sleet/snow.

What's crazy about these old school Big 10 fan's love affair with the Rose Bowl is that they got embarrassed every year in that game. I think the PAC 10 won something like 18 out of 20 games in the 70s and 80s and most of those were lower ranked teams exposing Ohio St and Michigan.

Herbstreit and all the others spent every New Years Day of his childhood crying and now he's like "oh my God the sunset hitting some really small mountains".

It's like Stockholm syndrome.

I think it'll get to that point. B10 winner vs SEC winner.

NCG should be a rotation between the NY6 bowl sites. Rose, Sugar, Orange, Fiesta, Peach, Cotton.
