Check out Detroit. A city that has been run by democrats for over 50 years and tell how good that city is doing.

I-20 in Mississippi was designed by some roller coaster manufacturer.
They had to detour it between a housing project and a hospital. Instead of razing the projects, they decided to build a fatal s curve in a controlled access highway.

They'll probably get a bunch of money from the federal government to fix their roads, and then turn around and bitch about big gub'ment.

I'm pretty sure Alabama has quite a bit more miles of roadway than Mississippi does. Mississippi also has a higher gas tax rate than Alabama does. More miles + less money = worse roads.

Detroit sucks, but this one, at least, can't be blamed on either political party unless you want to go to the national level and the promulgation of laissez faire policy toward corporate interests (and you might not want to do that.) In the case of Detroit -- and other much more conservative towns further upstate -- it was the perfect storm of economic power shifts combined with a rapidly expanding globalism. Not a damned thing to do with local politics when their infrastructure + climate were geared toward a very specialized production of capital.

I have, though. I honestly can't remember how good they were except for NYC and Boston, which means they were doing their job. Old adage about if they're doing their job perfectly, nobody notices them applies here. NYC and Boston are, respectively, an unavoidable clusterfrick of urbanization, and a major victim of historicity in their city planning.
Edit: Haven't driven SF. Thanks to 70s cop shows, I'm too terrified about the status of my undercarriage to risk it.

Our road system in Mississippi is light years ahead of Alabama except for city streets in Jackson
My experience driving from Montgomery to Memphis and back last week disproves this assertion fully and completely.

No, it's really not. I'm a Misssissippi native. Mississippi has absolutely no room to criticize any other state on this issue.
I'll add to this by saying I grew up near the MS border and where I'm from the roads go from great to absolute garbage when you cross into MS. The door definitely swings both ways on this issue.

Yeah, because Birmingham is run by Republicans. (to those of you that don't know, it's totally run by democrats and they have bankrupt Jefferson County and have no DAMN clue what they're doing.) Not to mention the shining gems of Detroit, all of California, and any other hyper democrat-run state institutions.
One day all you silly media blinded libs will wake up... and unfortunately for the rest of us, far too late.
As to the OP... the construction leading from Columbus to Tuscaloosa and the construction between Tuscaloosa and Birmingham ARE money being spent on the roads. So, I mean... I'm really not sure what's so bad about the roads though specifically.... well, other than the construction.
too many asshats from mississippi ...

That construction has been on going for at least 20 years. What's taking so long?

When did cities become responsible for interstate highway maintenance? They have no responsibility.

From Houston to the Louisiana border, I-10 is worst stretch of interstate I have ever seen.

Jefferson County, bankrupt Jefferson County, is indeed run by Republicans. Do the names Mary Buckelew, Gary White and Bettye Fine Collins ring a bell?
They were the majority on the Jefferson County Commission who sent the county into bankruptcy by building a sewer out to nowhere. The reason for this was that housing developers wanted to develop the land, so the county built sewers on the taxpayer's dime. The developers donated to all of the commissioners' campaigns. The geniuses on the commission didn't have he savvy to understand that they were being fleeced by Wall Street bankers who eventually forced the county into bankruptcy when the county couldn't afford the payments on the sewer to nowhere. Republicans still control Jefferson County, and we are still trying to get out of the mess made by Republicans in 2003-2004.
I'm no Democrat. I'm just pointing out the facts.

Blame Auburn. There's more AU grads at ALDOT than UA grads.
